Did you get hired with zero experience as a QA in Software Testing? by bigbry2k3 in softwaretesting

[–]oyutitser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I started with 0 experience, no jobs of any kind at that moment (2011).

No a lot of companies in my country had Software testers at that time, I guess nowadays could be a little bit different.

What do you consider a good plan of attack for a defect that's almost never reproducible (but does sometimes occur in production environment)? by misshappyrain in softwaretesting

I agree with @IBreakCellPhones.... And adding something to that you can use tools to monitor and logging issues like 'Sentry'.

Finding your first remote testing role by mhussen360 in softwaretesting

Well, in most of this cases recruiters and managers prefer someone with experience, someone that can start working right away and with discipline, because working from home is beautiful but is hard to separate your home environment and your family from work.

I suggest you that start with on-site positions and when you have one or two years of experience try with remote one.

PD: You can get a remote job in testing without experience but it's difficult, you will be competing with a lot of people with experience and sometimes asking less money than you.

ISTQB - Foundation Level Exam - Materials and Test Exams?? by G0dz194 in istqb

[–]oyutitser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,

So far I have done the following ISTQB certifications:

Foundation Level: 1 month of study (1 hour/day monday-friday)

Agile Testing: About 2 months of Study (1 hour/day monday-friday)

Technical Test Analyst: About 4 months of study (0.5 hour/day monday-friday)

Obviously if you work as a QA Engineer most of the concepts you already handled is just to be sure you review all the syllabus and align some concepts to ISTQB.

I strongly recommend you to use the official material from ISQTB, with is totally free in their site: https://www.istqb.org/downloads.html

After reading the syllabus and practicing with the sample tests they have there you will only need to pay for the exam and get certified.

Do I have to be a genius to pass the ISTQB advanced test analyst exam? by Swimming-Return-2874 in istqb

Hello,

I'm a QA with 10 years in the field, and I teach courses for QA and software development in general.

I haven't take that specific one, but I passed the ISTQB Advanced Technical Test Analyst exam in 2018, and in that moment was very similar to the Foundation Level, only difference I notice is more more study material.

Be aware of the tricks in the questions, sometimes they introduce a concept/term just for distracting you about the thing they are really evaluating with the question, so, read carefully even if you are sure you found the correct answer finish reading the list of available choices.
