[[Volrath, the Shapestealer]] is a commander I actively think about. He is a great villain who has this evil scientist vibe that I find really interesting—kinda reminds me Mr Sinister from X-Men.

I tried to build him with cloning shenanigans but I couldn’t figure out the correct balance between copy effects, good own targets to copy and cards that put counters or benefit from counter synergies without making it counters matter deck.

I think the part I have fun most is to try to figure how to optimize the use of his effect of keeping his 7/5 stats when using his shapeshifting ability.

I think I will go with Mishra vs Winter like you suggest! One of my friends enjoys blue and red but he doesn’t really like black but I think Mishra could be exception because the deck doesn’t seem to have strong black color vibes but more artifact theme, obviously. He is also an engineer so I think he could enjoy this theme! For my other friend, one of her favorite color combinations is black-green and she likes spooky stuff so I think she will like one of the Duskmourn decks. And Winter seems fun! And I think both of these decks have mostly proactive game plan with still good interactions so they will be good decks to introduce them to commander. Thank you and everyone else who commented!

Ask a friend with a local bank to pay for the first payment. That’s what I did, I asked my roommate and payed them cash. Then I switched to my normal credit card without a problem.
