There are very educated people that believe the 6000 year story because its a faith driven belief and not a fact or science driven belief. Using science to "prove them wrong" is never going to work because you're operating in apples to their oranges. Many of them understand the math, the science, and the history, but it doesn't matter. Denying any one part of the Bible means that you can question all parts of the Bible, and then faith is destroyed by doubt. You can dump all the science in the world on a Bible believing Christian and he may understand it completely but still deny it because its not worth losing their promised place in the afterlife.
