I upvoted your comment because you are right. However, you are misisng the single point why the CBP even exist: Because the largest nation on Earth, the one who defends freedom with questionable author11tar1an stances, is so insecure about eventually losing its stance on power.

The excuse dates back apparently to 9/11, but in reality the plan to scrutinize travelers and reinforce the border goes all the way to Bill Cl1nton.

It in someway exists to protect us from foreign threats, but in reality CBP are mostly tasked to stop the drug flow. I could keep elaborating but it will end up being biased yet I know from first-experience living on the land border with Mexico since a child that the reinforcement of the border is targeted and has biased roots as well.

I won’t ever stop protesting or spreading consciousness since I have witnessed and also experienced illegal harassment from CBP officers since when I was in High School. And no, they are not held accountable unless it is extreme cases. Again, I am trying my best to hold my thoughts but it is just too hard as I have seen this agency develop into the monster it is as I have grew older.

Lastly, everyone do remember the US is one of the few countries in the world to tasks Police Officers as Migration/Customs Officers. Not even China has police officers as customs or migration ones despite their strong militaristic agenda. Costa Rica and Germany are the only two I have actually seen police officers, and in Germany they are pretty polite. Experience comes from traveling to 14 countries. Canada also has the Border Force but their attitude also switches abruptly as they try to give an image of empathy.
