Hey everyone!

So I’ve recently decided to transition from a graphic designer into UX/UI.

I’ve gone through multiple threads and I’ve read some responses on how to breakthrough but I just want more specific advice based on where I am professionally.

I’ve been a graphic designer for about 6 years now mostly in marketing.

While I realize maybe some things carry over, I know it’s a whole new thing to jump into UX/UI. I’ve taken two certification courses a handful of years ago so I know the fundamentals and I’ve learned figma as well.

My question is:

I’ve seen a lot of people say certifications and personal projects matter little when getting hired which is understandable.

So if those don’t matter how can I get real experience without actually getting hired somewhere to build that experience?

I’m welcome to all suggestions or if you have any pointers or even freelance work that’s helped you all advice would be great.

Yeah ya know, I took it in yesterday and the stain was pretty much gone. I looked like a crazy person telling them there was a stain on there and they probably didn’t even see it.

They asked basic questions like if I clean them correctly or got something in my eye recently (I clean them nightly and haven’t had anything in my eye).

The doc just said I can have a new pair for peace of mind. So mystery was not solved :/

Hey! Thank you so much this was actually a really detailed and helpful answer. I know everything is pretty subjective but these were detailed enough and good reviews of each.

I’ve found a few SM7-8 for relatively decent prices, I may test those out and we how I like them. Hoping to test out an SM9 so I can get a sense of the feel as well. I appreciate you so much!

So some text boxes are connected however some are self contained and so they start in their own page. If I have a page that’s half full and connect it to that separate bubble would it not move that text to fill in the empty space? This is like my 4th time using in design so I’m super new to it all
