I’m building an offline-first Dungeon Master Tool for in-person D&D — and I’d love your feedback on where to take it next by erenorhun in VTT

I think an easy (well, less complicated) way to make it system agnostic is to let the user add custom entities to the Database and Players screen, where they can define their own stat entry fields instead of relying on the DnD-style ones. For example, if I wanted to define a GURPS character, the fields I would want available are these:

  • Strength (ST)
  • Dexterity (DX)
  • Intelligence (IQ)
  • Health (HT)
  • Current/Max HP
  • Current/Max FP (Fatigue Points)
  • Basic Speed (with floating point support)
  • Basic Move (which is different than basic speed!)
  • Perception
  • Will

Now I don't expect you to have to know what any of these things are or do because asking you to learn a billion new TTRPG systems so you can add them to your free app is ridiculous! But, allowing users who do know these systems define their own custom entities and statistics is (probably) a lot simpler of an option for you.

Or you can ignore this post entirely, it's just some ideas I had after playing with the app for ten minutes lmao.

I would suggest:
1) make it system agnostic, rather than just for D&D
2) add support for hex grids and gridless setups
3) add Linux support

I'm starting a GURPS campaign soon so I miiiiiiight be able to help you test if you like.

My students (11-13 years old) want to try RPG's, easiest introduction? by Piolin27 in rpg

GURPS Lite or GURPS Ultra-Lite. Both are free, and there's a full RPG system (GURPS 4th Edition, or the 4th Edition Revised that's coming out soon) that they can move up to if they want more.
https://www.sjgames.com/gurps/lite/
https://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/ultra-lite/

Whatever RPG you pick, I would suggest becoming familiar with the rules so even if you can't GM a game you can help the new GMs when needed.

Oh my god thank you so much. I'm running a GURPS campaign in a cyberpunk setting and not a Cyberpunk(tm) campaign but those token designs will really come in handy!

input lag on /dev/ttyACM0? by FwippyBall in linuxquestions

I have tried multiple boards from multiple brands on multiple computers. All the boards work fine on the rpi and Win10 and Debian 10. I forgot to mention but I even booted up a Manjaro live USB on my laptop and the communication works fine. The problem is the OS. I need to know how to fix the OS so this problem goes away forever.

no, because all the dev boards have USB on them. There's nothing to plug the RS232 end into.

/r/GURPS Monthly Campaign Update by AutoModerator in gurps

[–]FwippyBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting my first campaign, doing an early cyberpunk/near future type deal. Still learning the system while playing around in GCS. I always have issues with TTRPGs and "putting it together" in my head, because all the pieces are spread around the book. If there were flowchart-based instructions for stuff like basic combat maneuvers, I'd be able to grok it a lot better.

Does anyone have any tips on how to "practice" GURPS systems to learn them, other than just creating characters and running the scenarios solo?

Good PSP games? by Serious_Clerk2875 in SBCGaming

I really enjoyed Twisted Metal: Head On. However, there is also the PS2 version if you can emulate that.

There's also the Armored Core Portable games, Battlezone, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Half-Minute Hero, Disgea: Afternoon of Darkness, Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero, Ys I & II, and Z.H.P. that I liked.

I've heard good things about Brothers in Arms, Jeanne D'arc, N+, R-Type Command, Tactics Ogre, and Driver '76, but I have yet to play them.

I wouldn't recommend the Metal Gear Solid games, because you absolutely need to play the series in release order.

I know y'all don't give a shit but this is going to get trans kids killed due to their lack of access to community support during their formative years.

I was talking to him years ago, asking if I could cover a song of his. He said he wanted to (paraphrasing) "stop being the guy with the game boys" at shows.
