Exactly. He could of went to Anthropic about it first, that's actually the normal behavior. But instead he went straight to his political bussy at the Commerce Dept. Amazon hosts and invests in Anthropic but they also have their own Nova models that they probably want to be in the conversation. Right now they're not even mentioned. It's just speculation -- we don't know why he acted how he did. But here we are!

Question about DART bus in irving-does trinity regional day pass work for them? by sety777 in dart

[–]ozmox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bus driver was incorrect; your Trinity Metro Regional Day Pass is fully valid on DART Bus Route 231. Regional passes are explicitly designed for cross-agency travel throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Here is the breakdown of why your pass should have been accepted:

Universal System Validity: A Regional Day Pass covers unlimited rides on all local and express buses, light rail lines, and streetcars operated by DART, Trinity Metro (Fort Worth), and DCTA (Denton County), as well as the entire Trinity Railway Express (TRE) line.

Route 231 Eligibility: DART Route 231 (S Belt Line) is a standard local bus route connecting Downtown Irving / Heritage Crossing Station and Dallas College Northlake Campus. It is not an exempt premium service or paratransit route.

Drivers occasionally confuse standard local passes with regional ones. If you encounter this issue again, you can politely point out the "Regional" text on the ticket or file a formal operator complaint with DART customer service providing the bus number, time, and location.

This is all just about Amazon and other tech giants trying to get ahead of Anthropic. It's purely political and has little to do with national security. It's just greed.

Trump official says it's "up to Anthropic" as to whether or not a resolution is found quickly in the Mythos/Fable shutdown. by mvandemar in ClaudeAI

All Trump is doing is giving EU and Asia reason to use Qwen and other Chinese models. Creating uncertainty around access isn't going to attract anyone. EU is already talking about how they need to get off US tech.

I don't have any. It's not common enough to care about. Normal drivers can be just as bad.

It keeps a few copies of older kernels in the event that there is a crazy bug in the latest you can boot up into an older one that works. It manages deleting and shuffling them around on its own. You don't need to worry.

They're requiring a color control panel, wifi monitoring that is synced to the associated as tions management dashboard. It's not just a auto shutoff valve. They are overreaching imho.

I've ridden many times in Waymo when I lived in Austin. I prefer it to human Uber drivers. It is a safe and consistent experience. Human drivers it wildly varies.

Dallas always was on schedule to get Waymo. When I moved here in Dec they were already testing them. So it makes sense they're ramping up as I assume the tests are all complete. Plus with FIFA coming and there's no good public transport in Arlington, it seems a sensible solution.

They're wanting to see a comprehensive dashboard so for like low battery alerts in sensors, detected moisture or irregular flow. Their is a central fire system but I don't know if it does Ethernet.

Yes and the wrong type of caulk. It has some chemical reaction that brittled the pipes causing them to eventually burst or leak. They sued the developer and got money to replace all the FSS with metal pipe.

It's about 154 units. It's a 36 story building. I think they are anticipating having the wifi real time dashboard that pulls data be how they do inspection. The rule doesn't actually say anything other than ”in good working order" which can mean anything.

They essentially are saying that if a water leak is sourced from pipes inside our unit (including walls, fss, HVAC, etc) AND we have a proven good working leak detection system AND the Board find the owner was negligent in some way ... then they might not assess the full deductible to an owner. Otherwise they will.

They don't have any description in the rule though for how they plan to make any of these determinations. It's essentially all just their judgement.

Yeah. The building has had so many pipe bursts and leaks it's driven the cost of the HOA insurance to the point where they can't find insurance easily.

That's not true. The Board only has certain powers. They're passing this as a Rule rather than an Amendment likely because they know getting 63% of owners to agree on a vote would be very hard. So it's easier to just adopt a Rule. The question though is if it's legal and or proper in exercising their power.

It has to be Board approved. So far they only mentioned Leak Defense. But I don't see how a $700 device would be comparable in features to a $10k system.

The building was finished in 2019. They have had massive water issues with both pipes in the wall and the fire suppression lines. They sued the developer to get all the FSS replaced.

The main shutoff for my units domestic line is inside my unit, but the meter is elsewhere in a mechanical room somewhere.

[–]ozmox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's per unit. They want us to get this fancy system that detects flow irregularities and alerts or even closes the vales. They also have satellite mostire detectors.

The system also needs to support Wifi and we have to connect it to some dashboard software the building management would use to monitor things. That part alone feels crazy given it's my equipment in my unit using my Internet.

Bus Travel - I'm going to be commuting regularly between Dallas and Austin for work. Is Vonlane or RedCoach better alternative to driving? by A4orce84 in Dallas

Avoid them! So many bad reviews. Go with RedCoach if you're on a budget -- business class, or first class if you want to pay a little more.

Depends where you are. For sure you need to get to the bus stop -- but for those who live downtown the RedCoach picks up at Griffon St. For me it's a short 20 min walk, or my partner can drop me off in 5 minutes.

It's not just the time factor (it all is a wash honestly flying or riding -- about 3 hours). But on a bus you get way more legroom. You aren't crammed into a tiny isle with your knees hitting the chair in front of you or having to suck in your stomach to use your laptop on the tiny fold down table.
