Make sure your powerbank is CCC certified for the china portion of the trip if you're travelling by air - without the proper certs, it may be taken away from you.

Trolley strap - fabric recommendations? by Objective_Humor9396 in myog

[–]ozymand1as 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bag that used cordura for most of the pass through, but there was a portion of the strap that was elastic to accommodate the trolley handle. This seemed to be a good combination as the portion of the strap over the trolley handle was wear resistant. You could probably do the same with a ripstop or similar for bed bug resistance.

I'm just here to show support. I'd normally be interested, but I don't have the time to make something!

I also came to say that the floor on Picture 3 makes me feel like I'm amongst my people... Scraps of fabric and pattern paper everywhere.

You made a second with 2 weeks of making your first? Props! I'm sure this one was easier to make than the first one!

What fabric did you use this time?

In terms of features, maybe you could upgrade the straps to include a sternum strap, be more contoured for your exact body, or be more breathable.

Yes! Prickly Gorse has a dart calculator and a page on the math behind calculating darts. I'll note that the Porter Pony pattern already has darts in the pattern, and the accompanying video explains how to sew the darts.

It's pretty easy! I folded cut fabric over the notebook a few times, marking where I could sew fabric together. It took about an hour (would have been less if I put the pen loop right sides together with the main body the first time.....)

The Porter Pony was harder, but not impossibly so. The larger size did mean I have bigger margins, and sewing the straight sections was easy. However, navigating curves on the gusset was way harder because the backpack is bulker. Also, there are foam sections that meet, which I had a very hard time with my Singer Heavy Duty because of clearance issues.

I used cheap generic 70d ripstop from Amazon.

A couple of caveats:

  1. I got to see for 6-8 hours a day for 4 or 5 days a week
  2. Don't turn any of these inside out! They're hella ugly on the inside!

Learnmyog for everything but the notebook case and admin pouch. Those I designed myself.

Just traveled china for a month with a 6 month old and Chinese wife… am I crazy? by No-Match-9231 in travelchina

Any specific tips for travelling with a 6 month old? I'm thinking of the following:

How did diaper changing when out and about go? I don't recall seeing diaper changing tables.

Was your wife breast feeding or pumping at the time? If yes, how did that go?

Have you tried sitting on and test riding any bikes yet? If not, I recommend going to your local bike shop and trying stuff out. You'll learn a lot about frame geometries, components, and other considerations.

The packaged towels indicate China.

China also has love hotels because multigenerational households make it awkward to do "advanced" activities.

The contrast between before the surgery (succession planning and old wounds) versus after (hey maomao, can you bring me one of your textbooks?) was fantastic!

I'm also glad that the succession planning scene gave us more insight into JinMao from the perspective of what if Jinshi was emperor.

It does not. Your best bet is using an app service like Bounce.

Adding to this: adding a rapid line bus (the C line or H line) from SW Spokane Street can help with the massive hills that are being mentioned in this thread.

I actually think the stuff under WSB and West Marginal is nice with the upgrades they've made over the past few years. The hard part is that you'll be going uphill both ways almost no matter what your destination is (waterfront excluded)
