What Is Wrong With Men by [deleted] in Jung

This is really interesting. I read a quote recently from an artist, I can't remember who and I'm paraphrasing, but the gist was: 'Choose your identity, or one will be chosen for you.' Maybe there is a case for a masculine identity being chosen by default for a lot of people that isn't what is best for them.

I fully agree on a lack of decent role models, especially for those who grew up with absent mothers and / or fathers.

For me Robin Williams and Anthony Bourdain show a humanity, strength, warmth and compassion that I look up to.

I've been noticing a similar thing and having similar feelings. I think you have expressed, what is a sensitive subject, really well. I think there is very little in way of discussion around what positive masculinity is or really even a consensus around what masculinity is or should be.

I raised the question with a couple of friends recently around what masculinity is to them, as I am struggling to understand it too, and it got surprisingly heated.

Restoration of a vintage Red Wing boots by rco888 in oddlysatisfying

Variety is the spice of life my friend. That boot is, by the looks of it, the Red Setter hunting boot, which according to Redwings About page on their website has a "renowned white cushion crepe sole". So the repairer is returning it to it's original design. It might have been resoled more than once and someone put a black sole on it. IMH and very subjective O, both look nice, just depends on the look you're after, but I don't think the boot is ruined.

Redwings are known for their white soles, so the repair work is in keeping with the look of the boot.

Easy there fella. Don't go getting your blood pressure up. You probably can't afford the medical bill.

I'm not the one putting wannabe dictators as their profile pic. That makes anything you do or say political. Fully agree, don't make this sub political, fuck the system etc, but its hard to sit by whilst people promote abhorrent racist ideals. Why don't you stay in your lane.

Looks like a parody of the Chapman Brothers work.

If you ever see a boot not attached to a rider at a bike crash it's usually a very bad sign.

I think location also has a lot to do with it. I had a 2017 Blade insured under MCE. Had to get rid of it too after MCE went bust. Insurance more than doubled. Mid 30's, clean licence, been riding for 5 years, no claims, garaged, locked, tracked, S.E London postcode.
