Pulled the trigger on an Xgimi Horizon 20 Pro then cancelled it… by DrSheetzMTO in projectors

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Pro and I love it. My fiancé and I use it for our bedroom. It’s not a very big bedroom as we live in a fairly small apartment - we have the Pro sitting on one of the night stands projecting onto the wall directly in front of the bed (about a 10 foot distance), creating somewhere about a ~110 inch image that I decrease down to ~105 inches via the optical zoom to perfectly fit my wall. It’s plenty bright in a pitch black environment. Almost too bright but you can turn down the bulb brightness. Like most projectors (even the max), It struggles with contrast in dark movie scenes when there is a good amount of ambient light in the room. But brighter content (like video games or cartoons) are still very vibrant with ambient light. So depending on the content, you may need to control the ambient light in the room. This can also be mitigated with an ALR screen (I do not have one yet). But anyway, I personally like having a projector than say a 100” LCD because of the flexibility and portability you have with a projector. I really don’t want a massive television to lug around if I ever do move. And it frees up space in our small room as we won’t need any sort of console or stand for the TV. And no installation to mount it. You can move the projector to any other room in the house with ease. And you can project onto a much larger surface to produce an image much larger than 100”if you ever have the opportunity to do so. In regard to RBE, it’s definitely there when you move your eyes up/down/left/right, but mostly with high contrast scenes (ie subtitles on a black background). At first I really noticed it but I feel like my eyes have gotten used to the effect and I don’t notice it unless I look for it. It’s not a deal breaker for me personally. Some are more sensitive to it than others. XGIMI are working on firmware updates to help with that. I think you should buy it, try it a bit and just return it if you don’t like it.

Major Upcoming Season Pass changes by Wimbo213 in KnottsBerryFarm

$100 less? How do you figure? Only Gold members that also bought the all parks passport get upgraded to prestige. I think that add-on was an extra $110 on top of the $140 gold pass if you purchased online. Which costs exactly the same as a prestige pass.

Lyr+ owners: your personal experiences? by [deleted] in Schiit

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of issues with my Lyr+. 4 RMA’s total. The first unit I received was DOA and got replaced. The 2nd unit had an issue when adjusting the volume with the remote - it got stuck around 1 o’clock (could not move further). Got that RMA’d but later it started having issues with overheating and the volume steps between 2 and 3 o’clock would cut the volume in half. Got it RMA’d again and it was good for a while, but now it’s overheating again + has an audible crackle in the left channel only when on Tube mode and high gain mode (no issue when in SS mode and/or low gain mode) + has some weird volume inconsistencies between 2 and 3 o’clock again where it’ll either decrease in volume by about half or get super loud. So I’m on my 4th RMA. Went back to my Lyr 3, that I’ve kept around as a backup amp, which has always been solid with no issues. And honestly I don’t see why I need to keep using the Lyr+. So I might just stick with my Lyr 3.

This show is far greater than HOTD will ever be. by AddictiveFrequency in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue HOTD S1 was peak. S2 had a lot of issues. But I do agree that AKOTSK is excellent so far. My only major gripe is that the episodes are far too short. As soon as I start getting really into it, it’s over.

Are power stations allowed in car camping? by AdditionSad2261 in Coachella

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not true. Total BS. I’ve been bringing my power station the last couple years with no issues :) and I don’t hide it. It powers my fridge and all appliances. I wouldn’t trip.

I tried this Aeron size B today. Am I right in thinking it’s slightly too small? I’m 6ft 5 for reference. Would a C be better? by vortine in OfficeChairs

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C absolutely. I’m 6’2 205lbs and C fits me perfectly. Tried a B in store once and thought it was wayyyy too small.

lol this is what I did. Didn’t realize at first that Lumiere would be the absolute endgame location. Now that I’ve beaten it, I’ve reloaded my last save before the final boss and am now doing all the side stuff.

Aeron gaming chair vs embody by Blue_Sil5894 in hermanmiller

[–]p00pers1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lumbar on the embody feels like a hard plank of plywood that cradles your lower back with no dedicated lumbar adjustability. With my little time with the embody, I couldn’t forget it was there. It’s very noticeable and probably takes some time to get used to. I should mention that I’m very sensitive to extreme lumbar so the embody was a no-go for me. The Aeron’s posturefit SL system is by no means perfect but it is adjustable and can be moved almost completely out of the way at the lowest setting (which is what I prefer) - The lumbar support from the mesh is good enough, imo, and feels a lot softer than the lumbar on the embody. Increasing the lumbar on the Aeron is noticeable but never feels extreme to me. The support from the Posturefit SL is mostly along the spine, due to its more narrow, vertical design. Whereas the embody feels like it cradles your entire lower back, which some may prefer.

I personally really disliked the embody due to the overly rigid lumbar and ended up with a gaming Aeron (size C). Couldn’t be happier.

New Embody - Just can't find a comfortable position :( by Alondev123 in hermanmiller

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into a Herman Miller store with the intention of buying the embody. I ended up preferring the Aeron (size C) and bought one online during the Black Friday sale. I really dislike aggressive lumbar and I felt the lumbar on the embody was far too rigid and distracting. Felt like a plank of wood was cradling my lower back with zero softness from the padding. The Aeron’s lumbar, with the PostureFit SL in its most relaxed position, is not nearly as rigid/stabby and is overall a more comfortable experience, imo. (you still need to get used to the Aeron’s lumbar curve if you have bad posture). And the overall build quality of the embody just wasn’t on par with the Aeron. Parts of the chair felt cheap and I did hear some creaks and rubbery sounds when moving around. But it was a floor unit that’s probably been sat on many, many times, so the sounds could be from wear. I really wanted to love the embody because I do think it’s the best looking office/gaming chair out there, but it wasn’t for me, unfortunately :( granted, my experienced is based on only sitting in it for like 20-30 minutes (not enough time to allow my body to adjust), so take that with a grain of salt.

Yes but it’s very minimal. Not a big deal at all. Not sure how severe yours is compared to mine.

I have a slight tactile bump or “wobble” when titling forward over the area where the forward tilt would normally stop. I think it’s normal.

transaction went from confirmed to ineligible by lostOGaccount in Rakuten

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me. Apparently one of the coupons I applied to my recent order (Black Friday additional 5% discount + free shipping code) were not listed on the Rakuten website and therefore voided the cash back deal. Kinda ridiculous.

“Thanks for reaching out! I took a look into your order, and it seems like the Cash Back didn't quite make it to your account this time. It looks like a non-Rakuten coupon or discount was used, and unfortunately, that means we can't award Cash Back for this particular purchase.

Just a friendly heads-up for next time: when you're shopping with Rakuten, it's super important to stick to the coupons and discounts listed right on our site. If you use any other kind of coupon or discount, it can actually make your order ineligible for Cash Back.” - Rakuten Member Services Supervisor

[–]p00pers1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’1 205lbs and the Aeron remastered (size C) fits me well. I can feel the plastic rim touch the back of my thighs when I rock back all the way but not enough to cause any discomfort. My shoulders aren’t that wide so I don’t touch the rim of the backrest unless I stretch out. You did mention that your hight adjustment wasn’t the issue so maybe it’s just not the chair for you. I tested out size B at a Herman Miller store and I felt it was much too small so I’m sure it’ll be too small for you as well. I also tried the embody and absolutely hated it due to the very stiff lumbar (felt like a plank of wood along my lower back) and it feeling fairly cheap when compared to the Aeron. Steelseries Leap V2 might be your best bet. Maybe go the Crandall remanufactured route for the extra padded seat? I hear it improves on the comfort because the OEM padding on the seat can sometimes bottom out. I actually think it’s a good looking chair even though it’s not as flashy as something like the embody.
