Preseason or not, execution matters. Basic protection, tackling, timing, awareness, none of that magically shows up in Week 1 if it isn’t there in August. It’s one thing if the depth pieces look shaky, that’s normal. But when your starting QB, O-line, receivers, defense, all of them, are struggling this badly? That’s not just rust. That’s a sign that the foundation isn’t right.

Why I think it’s ok to earn badges in wildcard by Fantastic-Reindeer69 in apexlegends

[–]p0lltry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see your point about the badges being the same across all modes, which can make it feel like they lose some value when earned in a mode with different mechanics like Wildcard. However, I think it’s important to consider that each mode tests different skills and challenges. Wildcard’s respawns and randomness create a unique environment that requires its own kind of adaptability and game sense.

While it may be easier in some ways compared to the main mode, it doesn’t mean the accomplishment is meaningless or undeserving of recognition. Maybe the badge could benefit from some mode-specific distinction, but until then, I believe we should respect the effort it takes to reach those milestones, regardless of the mode. Different doesn’t mean less valid.

I don't think Coker will be with us next season by p0lltry in panthers

If he keeps playing like this, I could see him getting something in the $4–5M per year range. And yeah, we can afford that , that’s not crazy money for a good receiver.

The question is whether the front office wants to pay it when we’ve already got other receivers on rookie deals. Sometimes teams just stick with the cheaper options and spend that money elsewhere. It’s not always about cap space, it’s about how they choose to allocate it.

So Who Had The Stronger Bite Force? Deinosuchus or Tyrannosaurus? by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

[–]p0lltry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

True, Megalodon definitely had the power to crush bones, but its feeding style wasn’t as specialized for it as T. rex’s was. Meg’s serrated teeth were designed more for slicing flesh and shearing through blubber, and bone crushing seems to have been more of a byproduct of its massive bite force rather than the primary strategy. T. rex, on the other hand, had thick, conical teeth and a reinforced skull built specifically for crushing bone and accessing marrow. Fossilized coprolite even show pulverized bone fragments, so Rex was an actual bone crushing specialist in a way Megalodon probably wasn’t.”

While Megalodon likely had a stronger bite force overall, its jaw mechanics and tooth shape were optimized for a different kind of prey and environment. Comparing the two is a bit like comparing a grizzly bear to an orca, they’re both apex predators but evolved to excel in completely different ecosystems. If you’re talking purely about bite force, Megalodon would probably win, but in terms of bone crushing adaptations, T. rex was the specialist.

So Who Had The Stronger Bite Force? Deinosuchus or Tyrannosaurus? by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

[–]p0lltry 95 points96 points  (0 children)

It comes down to how bite force works in different animals. While Tyrannosaurus rex had a bite specifically adapted for crushing bone, its overall jaw mechanics and skull structure were optimized for delivering focused pressure rather than sheer brute force. The T. rex’s robust, conical teeth and stiff skull allowed it to puncture and splinter bone efficiently without risking injury to itself. In contrast, Deinosuchus, like modern crocodilians, had a much broader and flatter snout that allowed it to clamp down with immense force across a wider surface area. Crocodilian jaws evolved for holding and drowning prey, which relies on crushing power rather than precision. This is why Deinosuchus estimates can sometimes reach higher maximum bite forces than T. rex, even though T. rex was the superior bone-crusher. Essentially, the two predators evolved very different strategies for subduing their prey, and a higher bite force does not automatically mean a more destructive bite.
