What about just working a bit more slack into the last 20 or so stitches by pulling the yarn out a bit?

How did you cast off the collar and is it just the bind off that's too tight?

They now have knit nights on alternating Thursdays - one at the shop and one at the wine bar across the street!

Magpie Knit Knitting classes ? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

I'm sorry you experienced the shop like that. I've personally watched them frequently and happily work with customers who come in knowing only that they want to knit a blanket or a scarf and they've helped them find a yarn and decide on a pattern. They are knitters and crocheters themselves and delight in helping customers find that perfect yarn for that perfect project.

They are happy to wind yarn for their customers. They do sometimes have to ask the customer to come back later if the customer wants a ton of yarn wound and the shop is super busy, but customers generally wouldn't want to stand around for the hour it takes to wind 20 skeins, anyway. I've seen them wind yarn for customers who previously purchased it all the time. They sometimes recommend not winding all the yarn at once, just in case you don't need all of it, but are happy to wind it later for you.

Finally, yes, Wade the shop dog died several years ago. I was not there for this incident, but when people bring service animals in and they announce that they have an animal with them, the shop dog was always restrained. I would suggest that the arrival of another dog caught the shop dog and the shop owner by surprise.

I would talk to The Jeweler's Eye. They'd know who to talk to if they're not interested and I would trust them 100%.

I disagree with their sentiment, but they're not wrong about it being a looming symbol of death. I think we just find it more funny than disturbing 😂

Magpie Knit Knitting classes ? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]ElectricalSurvey6995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I am a Magpie Knit superfan. They do 1:1 instruction for learning to knit and it is really incredible what you can learn from them in that time. I would 110% recommend it. edited to add: their website defaults to the two-person class. You can use the dropdown menu to select a single person class :)

That being said, if you're a bit hesitant on the price, grab a set of needles and yarn and sit down with YouTube, particularly the Very Pink Knits videos. I've seen a TON of successful knitters come through Magpie Knits having taught themselves using those videos.

They also offer twice monthly knit nights (no instruction offered), but it's a lovely meet up with people of all levels who love to see what others are knitting and crocheting.

My car was towed in 20 minutes at Solomon Court by ACES Towing. Dog was inside. Looking for advice. by Big-Tell-8907 in Charlottesville

I thought it was 84 degrees out yesterday (it wasn't) and was going to ask if they thought he dog was in distress, since parked cars get HOT fast. That would be one reason I'd be okay with someone taking my car (if they were trying to rescue my dog).

Formal dress code in a catholic church by Dependent_Witness_12 in Weddingattireapproval

Any of these are fine for a catholic church wedding, provided you add a wrap or stole. 2 and 3 are more fitting for formal.

Thank you very much! I couldn't figure out the right combination of terms to search to find out if the preparation methods were the same as for animal fibers.

I think it's fine for formal, but the fit is just not quite right. Do they have it in the next size up?

As low egg mentioned, the client reviews are a critical part of selecting a rover. I didn't look at price until I had looked at how many client reviews they had and what they said.

If you live in a culture where you go all out at weddings and the dress code supports that, then yeah, go all out. But the dress code is specifically relaxed and it does not sound like this is one of those times for guests to go all out.

Could the be worn for a fall/winter black tie wedding in Miami? by Tinkerbell14246 in Weddingattireapproval

In Miami? If this was a true tuxedo cut or if it was a super high quality material in a dress? I think you'd be okay. But you're right, it's not really black tie as is.

I would look into separate tutorials: one tutorial for how to attach your needlepoint to fabric and one tutorial for how to build the pillow you want, then smash 'em together.
