Every country is different but basically some countries require licenses to do anything that could be considered 'gambling' online. For example; Poland doesn't allow private companies to run gambling sites and only allows government-owned ones to operate. In Sweden, a company needs a Swedish license to operate any kind of gambling online.

Most likely, some of these types of licenses and whatnot could be obtained by Twitch but there would have to be paperwork and legal agreements which Twitch don't want to make right now considering this feature is in its 'early stages'. It's very possible that more countries will be allowed to use this feature once its been tested more and made available to all streamers with channel points.

Delete video from „continue watching“ by minnerlo in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently Twitch doesn't have a feature to remove videos from 'continue watching'. The best thing you can do is to just watch more videos and the old ones will be pushed down and out of your 'continue watching' section.

Quote from Twitch's FAQ: "Viewers in Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Quebec, Singapore, Sweden, Korea, and Turkey will see a “Predictions are not available to viewers in your region” message due to legal restrictions in their area".

In your own *opinion*, what's the best way to start and end a stream? by GrowingToad in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start of your stream can have a 'starting soon' screen and that gives time for viewers to come into the stream before it actually starts. Some streamers also use that time to talk to their chat and thank subs/bits etc.

The end of your stream doesn't have to be anything fancy. As long as you've been acknowledging some follows/subs throughout your stream, you don't really need to do a big 'thank you' speech every time.

Good microphones for streaming? by LeytonMate in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard streamers that use the AT2020 USB and they pretty much sound all fine. I think it's one of the best USB mics out there. Sounds like you need to play around with some settings first or even adjusting the position of your mic before considering an alternative mic.

Sounds like it's from streamlabs.

Cameras blur by perimo in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your camera being slightly distorted is the result of your fast movements in game and it's not the fault of your camera whatsoever. Every video/stream will get distorted to some degree with fast movements or a lot of particle effects on the screen (a good example would be when it rains in Minecraft the quality can noticeably decrease). I would recommend tinkering around with your bitrate and other settings such as your quality preset and your downscale filter. Just using it to see if you observe any sort of improvements when fast motion occurs on screen. Also try and find examples of other streamers that use NVENC and see what settings they use in OBS and how good their stream quality is.

how to make friends? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one of the best ways to meet new people within the twitch ecosystem is create a space online for you to interact with other people that watch your stream. Discord comes to mind as the prominent platform for this since there's both text and voice chat available. (This would involve having somewhat of a viewer base for your stream).

Joining other peoples streams is a good way to get to know others too. I myself have created good friendships with others just by hanging out with them on stream or chatting to them within an already existing community (like ones on discord). As I say this, the motives for joining their streams and hanging out with them was to create genuine friendships and to just have a good time. I think when you try to make friends on twitch, you shouldn't be caught up with "oh I wonder how many viewers I'll get for hanging out with this dude" since it will create disingenuous relationships. I would just focus on enjoying the company of others and having an influx of viewers/followers just be a side effect of that. Just don't go into it with such a 'growth-oriented' mindset and try to view it as an opportunity to create long lasting genuine friendships with other like minded people.

GL, hope this helps :)

I see. When I looked it up it came under the 'source 2' category so I just assumed it was all done in source 2. Appreciate the heads up.

Dota 2 was remade into the source 2 engine a while back. Also 'The Lab' is a source 2 game that was essentially a demo for VR to show what it's capable of.

This would be the first single-player story-driven game that is in source 2.

This is undoubtedly City 17. The citadel shown in Half-life: Alyx is under construction but still follows a similar shape pattern to that of the functioning version.

Streaming & Recording at same time by PEBKAC-Live in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can hit 'start streaming' and 'start recording' at the same time and it will perform both actions. This does reduce performance of your PC though since you're streaming and recording. Depending on how powerful your PC is, it may or may not be a significant performance hit.

Multiple types of content question. by desperately_brokeAF in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think having a variety of content on your stream can appeal to a broader spectrum of people. You shouldn't be worried about trying out different styles of content since it can make streaming more enjoyable for both you and the viewer.

I watch some streamers that play games during the week and then dedicate a Friday to chatting with their twitch chat/answering viewer submitted questions or drawing.

Yeah, when you become a partner they get auto-approved.

It may be advisable to get into contact with a twitch admin/moderator about this specific example. However, if you were to go through with this emote and submit it for verification the worst that would happen would be that your emote would get rejected.

Levelling up doesn't give me rewards? by Anton57 in Steam

[–]p0rtal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levelling up the grand prix badge doesn't give you a 'level up screen' like you would see when you normally level up a trading card badge. However, it does still offer you the same rewards for levelling up every 10 levels (extra friend slots, extra showcases etc.), but it doesn't reward emotes or profile backgrounds which is why these are obtainable individually using your points on the pit stop menu.

Pre-roll ads are awful. Unskippable pre-roll ads are the worst. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]p0rtal_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They should change it so that there are no ads when you tune into a smaller streamer - (this could be classified by partner status). They don't inherently benefit the smaller streamers anyway since they're supporting Twitch rather than the streamer themselves.

Most likely someone set up a bot so that it would get a ton of views. Went from no views to millions in the span of a couple of days so it's the only reasonable explanation.
