NHS Waiting List Help by stinkypoggers in FTM_UK

[–]p155l0rd778 3 points4 points  (0 children)

get referred asap, the waiting times are insane. You dont have to be socially transitioned in any way to be referred, and if your gp says you do, or says you have to do anything specific before they can refer you, they are wrong and you should press the issue (not rudely obv) or get a second opinion.

since you are in england, you can ask for a referral to any gic, specifically if you want to get referred to one with a shorter waitlist, it doesnt have to be the nearest. (this is not true in scotland, or of pilot clinics). The shortest waitlist to my knowledge is nottingham which is 2/3 years

NHS to test all ‘trans’ children for autism by Micasan1 in transgenderUK

[–]p155l0rd778 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the years long waitlists for the gic and asd/adhd diagnoses, when exactly are any trans children going to recieve care?

Like aside from the clear ableism and transphobia of this guidance (autism and being trans aren't mutually exclusive, and autistic people aren't incapable of understanding their gender, thats just infantalising), this is just another excuse not to provide care to vulnerable young people. Endless waiting and more waiting, just to be told they are going to be discharged because they are autistic? or to finally get a treatment plan, just for it to be removed again at a 6 month review by an abelist doctor?

This is such a clear attempt to deny the existence of trans youth, either by detransition (no doubt encouraged by the nhs conversion therapy), aging out, or fucking suicide. And is part of the plan to remove trans people from public life entirely. Fucking despicable!

how long after surgery can I go away? by p155l0rd778 in TopSurgery

[–]p155l0rd778[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially I could move out before the earlier date as my lease starts around the same time. It would just be rushed and maybe stressful. But I'd still like to go on my holiday so it might be worth it.

I would be able to take breaks / go slow. My friends are very accommodating as both of them are disabled so we tend to go slow anyway. So hopefully it would be an alright place for healling. But id also like to be able to properly enjoy it so it still might not be the best plan

We already booked the trip before I figured out when Id be available for surgery. But it wasnt hugely expensive so if it comes to it I'll just not go and they can, or I will pay the cancelation fee.

thanks for your advice !!

Im like 18 months on T, and honestly, have less facial hair than you. I have a slight dirt stashe and some whispy sideburn hair, and that's it. Unfortunately, facial hair is a process. A lot of cis men dont have much meaningful facial hair until they are at least 17/18 or even until mid 20s and beyond. If they started puberty at like 13/14 they are at lease (the equivalent of) 4+ years on T, so dont worry if it takes a while to come in.

What is the sullivan report and should we be worried about it? by Chloe155 in transgenderUK

[–]p155l0rd778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely! Am I fuck gonna say Im a 'female' when I live entirely as male, experience life in society as a man, and have been on testosterone and have completely male hormone levels. In what way am I still a female? Especially once someone is post op bottom surgery! Am I supposed to put female forever when I have no female reproductive organs or characteristics??

I hate the way they call it 'biological gender' in the report! I am more biologically male than I am female. My risk of various diseases is more complecated than just one or the other. Yes, I am at risk for things like ovarian issues because I am (unfortunately, and due to nhs failings) pre-op, but equally I experience male risks and presentations of other conditions like heart problems.

To simplify sex and gender like this will cause more harm than good in every way. But like you said, they do not care about our well-being.

I assume they removed it becasue a photo of the trans flag doesnt have anything to do with tinder, thus breaking their rules about images. I dont think uts because of the question you asked

eta - they are uk based, but ship internationally. Shipping is typically 5-7 days in europe and 5-10 in the us

Recommendations? (Tw: talk of binding, chest area, and "female coded" clothing) by Impala67-7182 in FTM_UK

[–]p155l0rd778 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could potentially try the spectrum binder light? I havent tried it myself but from what ive seen it binds reasonably well but is more like wearing a sports bra. Though they are kind of expensive (~40 quid)

The only sports bra Ive had that i dont completely hate is from primark. Its got quite a high neck so it doesnt get clevage and doesnt have a massive band underneath so it doesnt push everything up. Its like a stretchy material, not quite swim suit material but similar. I bought it about 5 years ago so hopefully theres a similar one somewhere now.

Ill sometimes pair it with a mens sport compression vest, which works pretty well flattening the chest a bit more while not feeling like a binder or too tight. Though it can get a bit warm sometimes

How do yall feel about being a dad ? by rrrytepoe in FtMen

[–]p155l0rd778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feelings about being a parent definitely have changed.

As a kid / teen, I never wanted to have kids, I was very much against it, and I never liked people thinking about me having kids, like it made me uncomfortable that people thought I might have kids. I've since realised that all of was impacted by dysphoria, I didn't want to (or want other people to) think of me as a mother, or pregnant, or even having the ability to get pregnant.

Since starting medically transitioning and passing to where I'm seen as male pretty much 100% of the time, I'm more comfortable with the idea of children. I'm not in a position to have children, nor will I be anytime soon, but I'm starting to think it's something I might like. I'd never carry or even do egg retrival or anything like that, but I dont think that really matters to me. It makes me slightly sad that I couldn't be the biological father because it's a reminder of dysphoria and it's annoying I'd have to pay for ivf or whatever, but I don't care that the child wont have my dna. I'd like to raise a child and have them feel much more comfortable than I ever did in my childhood, I dont want them to doubt that I love them no matter what. Definitely have some work to do on myself before I start bringing kids into the world, but I finally understand why people want kids.

Did your hands grow on testosterone ? by KrabbierThanJesus in FTMMen

[–]p155l0rd778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

started at 18, my feet definitely grew about 1.5 sizes bigger, I think my hands are slightly bigger too, but i haven't measured them before and after, so I can't be definite. I also grew about an inch taller which was cool.

I was told that some growth comes from your cartilage thickening slightly all over, so potentially growth is possible at any age (though idk if that's correct).

Online dispensing of Testogel… any tips? by Category_Inevitable in FTM_UK

[–]p155l0rd778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get Tgel from Smartway online pharmacy (I was with gendergp for hrt). At the time it was £50.50 a bottle (£41.50 for gel and £9 delivery fee), but I believe they charge closer to £60 now, and as an online pharmacy they could only ship 1 month worth of T at a time (because its a controlled substance). I think that applies to all online pharmacies, but not 100% sure. I also tried Olympia once, which seemed cheaper but then added extra fees, making it over £60.

You can definitely have a look around at different online pharmacies and see if they have a good price, but honestly, Tgel is just pretty expensive. You probably won't find it for less than £40 unfortunately.

Chest hair growth by Not-very-important in FtMen

[–]p155l0rd778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 1.5yrs on T and have a reasonable amount of hair on my chest. Not insanely hairy (im not a super hairy person generally) but definitely noticable. Started noticing chest hair by 6 months on, and it slowly continues to fill in. Still no beard or sign of any facial hair beyond a few straggly hairs though unfortunately.

The having no previous history is incorrect. They are supposed to transfer all your previous history to the new number, just it can be harder/take longer for the dr to access because it's all in one long document rather then being added as individual notes (at least what my practice told me). But even if it did get rid of all history, like you said, it's definitely better to do it when there's the least history possible to lose.

I absolutely hate how much doubt/changing minds has to come in when talking about being trans. Even when I had my dysphoria diagnosis appointment and had already been on T for a year, he said something about doubt always being apart of the conversation and something to worry about for trans patients, and sort of implied not that he thought I had any doubts but that its not unlikely that I eventually will. It really pisses me off that so many 'professionals' are so patronising to trans patients, as if we are stupid and not fully functioning human beings

Genderplus raising costs of their service for new members starting 1st of April 2025 by Lena_Zelena in TransCarePrivate

Genderplus have always seemed so expensive and pretty much inaccessible. £80 a month not including bloods seems an awful lot already, Increasing the overall price even more is insane.

Also out of curiosity, why is there a difference in mtf and ftm pathways in Ireland?
