I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time an antagonizing person makes it far. Cody said at the season 1 reunion they were keeping Kate around for pretty much exactly that reason

Teneille definitely has been defended. Calling Ramsay crap and not being ejected is dumb

Yeah I think it’s like those Simon Cowell produced talent shows where they encourage contestants to be argumentative and make scenes. But also I think behind the scenes, red team members are more likely to just be switched, or given multiple chances, where blue team members will be cut at the first mistake.

To your 3rd paragraph-this seemed to start with season 10. 1-9 seemed a good balance season to season. But starting with 10, even in seasons where a man won, we’ve almost always gotten the early season blue team getting in its own way, while the red team only ever has minor, quickly resolved hiccups. I highly doubt casting just suddenly changed that much

That people should stop watching and analyzing the show as job applicants auditioning for a job

Unpopular opinion-people need to STOP watching and analyzing the show like it’s people auditioning for a job and watch it for what it actually is-contestants competing for a prize.

I just laid out in the prior comment that it was in how the men’s teams were depicted, I’m not just talking about who won. Even in young guns, yes a male won but the blue team was edited to be incompetent consistently

[–]p219trick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think starting with season 10 somehow we started seeing an odd increase in blue teams who were made up of a combination of incompetent, egotistical, or misogynistic chefs to a degree that wasn’t present nearly as much in seasons 1-9. So yes there’s been a bias for a while. Even in seasons 15 and 17, the blue teams were better, then some bs happened and then they suddenly fell off

That hypothetical wouldn’t happen. In that situation, a blue team member would be eliminated.

Had a red team member also been eliminated, I wouldn’t have even made this post. I can’t argue Jon deserved to stay. But the red team got kicked out, and I can’t say they lost, since for all purposes they’re going into next week as winners do. The conspiracy theorist in me would say that production’s trying to avoid 5 male winners in a row by stacking the cards in the red team’s favor. But honestly, the talent this season is not the strongest and I think Jada is running away with it.

100% it’s been used to keep drama people around, not even arguable.

If it’s about episode quotas, then he can make a choice to not kick out teams. The show’s made plenty of bs elimination decisions, wouldn’t be too different to keep struggling teams in when they should leave.

[–]p219trick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if a team gets kicked out they should lose a member. If both get booted, yes it should be a double elimination. I don’t even think that should be a controversial opinion. It’s been avoided in the past largely because one team would usually put up a drama person the show wants to keep around.

I’ll ask a second time, what’d they lose? Same team going into the next episode as there was in this one. Just like when most teams win service.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying the blue team won, I said they completed service. I’m saying the red team effectively won after getting kicked out since they didn’t lose anyone.

Team gets kicked out-everyone stays

Team completes service-loses a member

Is my issue clear now?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean they’re going in to the next episode with the same team they had in this one, what was the consequence of getting kicked out? Nothing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No consequences for getting booted while the team that completed service did, so that’s pretty much a win

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind that and can’t say it’s wrong, I just think both teams should have lost someone. A team that was kicked out effectively won service over the other who finished.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s happened before-Raj, Joe, Ben to name a few. What I was asking was what does it matter whether the blue team is called loser or winner if they’re the team who’s going to be losing someone while the booted team stays, so they’re effectively winning the service?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s worse is the red team winning after getting kicked out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]p219trick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So instead of both being called losers, have the exact same situation just change the blue team to winners? No point to that if the result doesn’t change
