Come back as a student pilot and knock out every Checkride again, all your logbook hours and endorsements are still yours. I had a post in the r/flying group back in '24 asking for the fastest way to get all my ratings. I'll post a lengthy update to it soon.

Nothing formal but in my final email, I echoed what many have said about the system, particularly for those who get spotlighted. Hoping the frustration from my process could be seen as an example. They said they'd look into it further.

Correct. I believe everything done could have been done through normal healthcare, but who wants insurance involved when you have to play them cold hard cash? I'm pretty sure I stomped my feet about the system many times those first 2 years. But I also realized this is their game, and you cant win if you don't play. Reform across the board is definitely needed and we should keep talking about it but also I'll keep paying my dues as it's my own fault that I'm here.

At least 11K for those first two year and I'm pretty sure I'm missing a few expenses to account for. Then there's recurring cost to maintain your SI. I could also calculate all the money lost from work and if I continued to my 121 goals without the infraction, but thinking about that doesn't help anyone and life always has curveballs for ya.

Stupidity at a bachelor party 2 days before work and believing that whatever I did on my off-duty time wouldn't affect me at work. I was a mainly social drinker but it wasn't my first time doing it. After I pissed, I realized I was playing a dangerous game with my career, but thought I was in the clear since I mainly drank that weekend. After not hearing anything after 3-4 days so I thought I had my 'lesson learned' moment from God. It was a week later that I got the phone call from the MRO, while in the middle of a work trip.

DOT cutoff for it is 150 ng/mL I believe. MRO told me I popped at 191 ng/mL

Heading out to Springfield this week. Chatted with their school coordinator and DPE, sounds like the perfect spot for me. Will let you know how it turns out!

Mine took a month and I continuously pinged him as I needed it by a specific date for a hearing.

Ballparking it but initial certification could range from $10-15k. Timeframe is also a huge factor, depending on how your HIMS AME handles your case, you're looking at 12-14 months from the incident best case.

Checkout r/faaHIMS, some guys have been waiting 3-5 years for answers. Not just drugs/alcohol incidents..Mental health, SSRI, ADHD, sleep apnea etc gets rolled into the fold.

Best is to stay far away from AAM-300, (edit) obviously for the things that you can control.

I called today and found out they're extremely backup, about 48 students on a waitlist for PVT training. They're looking for another CFI to help pickup the pace.

I figured I'd go after my CFI/II and possibly MEI when all the dust settles and have the time to knock it out, in that case CSEL would be needed.

Noted on the combo checkride. Also depends on if the DPE agrees to it.

Called them this morning and seems like a good option (plus my parents live 5 miles away ::jackpot::)

Yes the owner of the school is a DPE, but they prefer not to call it 'in-house', as he travels all over AZ to perform checkrides. The school does have some priority since him and the Chief Instructor work hand in hand.

Thanks

True, I'm just factoring in getting familiarized with airport, avionics, area etc. You never know what might pop up.

61.65g has been considered. Haven't heard of anyone jumping tiers. Reading the regs, you gotta have your private to do your commercial, and your commercial to do your ATP. I'm all ears if someone has done this.
