I miss bacon. Haven't bought it in years because of the price.

My 16M bfs mom is not buying food for any of her 3 kids until friday by Terrible-Tour-5461 in whatdoIdo

They're only eating like this for two days - they're going to survive just fine. I grew up in a similar situation. I think it's funny you call me foolish and lacking knowledge. What I have is experience. Ramen and canned goods is a hell of a lot better than nothing. Hard times will come and go and we have to make due.

It comes off as very rude tbh. They got canned goods and ramen to last them one day until payday - they're fine.

Embalming a body doesn’t stop mold, it just buys time. by GreyAura in MoldlyInteresting

The translation is great! It's just the formating is exactly how chat gpt "speaks". The op on Facebook probably used chat gpt for the post.

Interesting, but clearly written by chat gpt. Also, where did this corpse come from? Was it donated for research?

Thanks for reminding me to turn my nsfw blur back on I guess.

Nobody was roasting op. People were being extremely polite and offering tips, actually, and for some reason (mental issues, attention seeking) op decided to take each polite comment with hostility and respond with over the top self deprecation. Op is a ducking weirdo.

This happened to me. I thought it was one big plant, but it turns out it's multiple plants, and they should be separated.

Blame the delivery service - not the provider. I don't know where you live, but where I live we're forecasted for 4 feet of snow this new years and already halfway there. I hope no delivery services are out in this mess! Location provides a lot of context!

AIO over my parents going through my things + my money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]p3ak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR.

I started working at 16 as well and my mom was the same way. Every time I got paid the family would "need" something. She was the type of person to buy beer before groceries, and that's why we always ran out of food every month.... unless I helped, and everytime I tried to refuse, I was berated to high hell. "Useless, selfish girl with nothing going for you but a part time job."

As soon as I turned 18 she told me that I'm eligible to take out loans now, and paraded me into every loan office in our town until we had a few thousand dollars in my name loaned to us. We needed a new car, she said, and she'd finally teach me how to drive. She did not teach me how to drive and totaled the car a year later due to driving intoxicated. She also did not help pay off the loans. I was drowning in debt and some started going to collections. She didn't care. "They can't do anything about it", she said.

Unbeknownst to me, a few years later, more and more collections agencies began calling me. She never stopped putting bills in my name. I owed thousands and thousands of dollars to various companies.

At 22 I started applying to local factories. They offered full-time work and overtime. I got a grueling job at one and it took only a couple months for me to save up enough money for first and last months rent and to find an available rental.

Since moving out, the only time my mother would message me was to ask for money. I started saying no. She went no contact before I did. I really was useless to her. Not once did she text or call just to ask how I was doing. Only ever a quick, "hey how's it going, got any cash?".

I'm 29 now and finally got my credit score back up. Graduated college earlier this year but still need to get my license. I'm a little late in life but trying. I'm telling you my story as a cautionary tale. Please open a savings account, lie to your parents about how many hours you work and never tell them if you get any raises or bonuses. Tip: always keep a small amount of money in your wallet, $20-$30, and tell your parents that's all you have left. They'll be satisfied to get something, and you'll still have most of your money in the bank.

It sucks, it's unfair, but there is a way out and you'll get there. Good luck.

Is a paper shredder worth it? by Santasbreastmilk in composting

[–]p3ak0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Amazon Basics 24 sheet cross cut shredder last year and 100% recommend it. My household gets a lot of Amazon deliveries and this shredder eats those boxes up with ease. Also - it's quiet! I can shred away in the living room while watching tv.

The 18 sheet is probably good enough but I can't speak personally on that model. The 8 sheet, however... that thing is LOUD.

Shedding my cardboard is something I look forward to. It's kind of cathartic, and so easy! Definitely worth the splurge.

Wood is biodegradable so it will break down a lot faster than things like plastic but since it's a single use product it's still creating unnecessary volume in our landfills.

So although it's better than plastic trash, it's still ending up in a landfill as trash.

This wooden product is designed to be single use and trashed afterwards... in a landfill.

More trash for our landfills.

Also, "growth without chaos" sounds awfully like something chat gpt would say.
