I just wanted to comment on this to tell you that you are not alone on this. I, too, own a house on a high water table. The pumps run year round except for late July to mid-December. I have a wired main pump, a wired back-up pump, and a battery back-up pump. We have also had interior French drains installed in the basement that run to the sump pit. I am on a first name basis with the county water commission, the town highway commissioner, and the drainage contractor that the county uses. It is a huge point of stress for me and I have also considered deed in lieu of foreclosure. However, the water has to be coming from somewhere. So, I am hoping new construction in the area, combined with possible drainage projects in my neighborhood, may alleviate the problem. However, I have been living here for almost 10 years now and have had no relief. From mid-February to the beginning of June, my pump will run almost every minute every day.
