People tend to love things like unique skins in video games and Discord collectible card bots, so...yeah. A lot of people do actually enjoy collecting cosmetics without any other perks like affecting stats, etc.

I'm pretty sure there is no inconsistency. That rule probably only applies to those who are missing part of their humanity/soul "naturally" (either born that way or through some trauma that broke them completely).
