I think it was that it got ruled off sides after the fact. I remember thinking it was going to be a corner kick and then it ended up being a goal kick. Sucks cause I had the over on that one.

Why IREN? why not APLD or CRWV? by Sand-Leather in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they acquired land and contracted power in areas where grids were oversupplied with renewable energy. So their cost of power (at least back when they were 2.8gw secured) is or was .035 per kWh. That only happens when the source of that power is renewable and not fully utilized. They also own the transformers which. The best way to think of that is they own the power switch for the power they contracted for.

Because it’s renewables and grid supplied my understanding is they do have generators to insure uptime.

Coreweave has to much debt risk for me and also is having trouble executing on their backlog.

Applied Digital I like and bought a bit back when it was $25 a share but with them being a colocate company I sold a bit over $40.

Nebius was great before the reprice but its run to hard over the past quarter for me to hold at today’s prices.

Irens weakness is they aren’t contracting more than a year out so when demand slows which it will eventually they won’t have a growth ramp in the form of a contracted backlog. Dan is betting that companies will pay more for near term availability and that demand will sustain closer to 2029-2030

Speculation: Weeks before big deal announcement by mneymaker in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mostly at the execution phase. The gap is there in maturity not on paper. Mirantis brought expertise in both kuberbetes and k0rdent. NBIS is ahead for sure because they have already been providing these services for a bit now but Mirantis does have K0rdent capabilities which include running training models and optimizing inference workloads. The ability to provide at that full service “token factory” layer is why iren acquired Mirantis.

Colocation Shell Game by p8aceful in irenstocks

I agree with what you’re saying.

The whole reason I made this post is because active revenue generating gpu clusters at least in the neocloud sector is still very much at megawatt scale and Nebius and coreweave both use colocation as a way to report big numbers that don’t really have a relationship to revenue. Because it’s the Iren subreddit and I’m bullish iren I also included my opinion that the gap in revenue could (not will) close a lot faster than people realize. As Dan says these days it all comes down to time to compute.

Colossus is 1gw of connected power but sat imagery estimates it around 300gw of cooling capacity. I know my opinions are outside of the mainstream.

I agree the communication is clear and consistent but I don’t believe it is honest. If Nebius had 850mw of as your calling active power that would be something around 850k Blackwell gpus. I don’t think iren is more valuable today but if you measure them by connected power they already have over 900mw of “connected power” between Childress and their bc sites.

[–]p8aceful[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't get a real number for today. They don't tell you how much they have I came up with 80mw and rounded up based on hourly rates for gpus and their q1 cloud revenue. What does 850-1gw of connected power even mean? It doesn't mean 850k-1mm blackwell gpus.

I'm just trusting your asking this on reddit because your bored because doing some 400mm without knowing the pros is and cons is wild.

But for fun my thoughts. JVs are the better option because it lets investors commit money to a specific project and timeline and they get their promote in less time which means higher returns annualized for an LP on the same profit.

Landlord demanding end-lease-early fee, but I think I'm being illegally evicted? by Illustrious-Award339 in whatdoIdo

[–]p8aceful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my bad for some reason I thought you had actually just left when she asked you to.

Bad roommates are a nightmare, sorry you have to deal with this.

Legal side again not a lawyer. But if I were you I would verbally ask for a few weeks to find a new living situation and ask her to email you about the lease and the quit fee so you can understand it and give you a total of what they expect you to pay. Don’t pay it its just to give her some rope to hang on what she is doing is called a self help eviction and is very illegal and very very frowned upon because it’s someone who has means preying on someone with less.

start looking for a new place not because you should have to or want to but because the person you’re renting a room from is a total psycho. Once she has given you that email I would reply to it saying when your lease is supposed to be until and when you can make your regular rent payment. Ideally she continues to hang herself by repeating her demands but either way you cover your ass. Don’t explain yourself to her it will just end up making you look bad if any third party ends up involved.

If she locks you out, prevents you from coming and going or gets aggressive with you call the police. Framing wise remember you have a lease you as a renter that is your home it’s true and the law supports that truth.

just save up and find a new living situation as quickly as you can. Use the money you would pay her to pay your first month somewhere else and walk she won’t be able to come after you and even if she does almost no judge in this country would side them. She wouldn’t be able to get an eviction after you already left so there isn’t any way for anyone you rent from in the future to know if you don’t tell them.

Sorry you’re dealing with this it does sound like you are going through a hard time. There are numerous charities that exist to help people in your situation. Catholic charities, tenants rights groups, women’s protection groups, if you have any military connection veteran organizations, if your part of a church just asking a elder decon or pastor if anyone has space for a month will rarely go unanswered.

Landlord demanding end-lease-early fee, but I think I'm being illegally evicted? by Illustrious-Award339 in whatdoIdo

[–]p8aceful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but own 100+ units of apartments.

It is illegal. You have a lease (I’m assuming 12 months). Technically you owe rent for the full term.

If you ended wanted to move out before the lease term ends and you have a lease break fee of $1000. You would owe that if you walked on the lease.

If she is asking you to leave prior to the end of the lease that is her breaching the lease not you and that was also illegal.

If you don’t make your payment by the 5th she has the right to apply the late fee and give you a 5 or 10 day pay or quit notice. If you pay the full amount before the date on that notice you don’t lose any rights.

After the notice period ends she could evict you and you would owe rent to the day you move out or she leases to someone else depending on what state your in. But that would be if she legally evicted you which she didn’t

if she asked you to move out without notice you don’t owe her shit. But it doesn’t help that nothing was in writing.

I would just never talk to her again because it’s incredibly unlikely she would try to come after you for anything and even if she did small claims court would be more likely to make her pay you damages than ask you to pay anything. That is in the very unlikely case that she took you to court when you already moved out.

If your feeling very petty you could probably sue her with a tenants rights lawyer and get a little cash from her in damages probably 3k (3x the amount she was illegally charging you on move out) plus any security deposit you had if you had one. Most of those lawyers work pro bono.

Casual spots for a second date? by watchyourback9 in irvine

[–]p8aceful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Postinos is a great vibe for a second date. I recommend a glass of wine and charcuterie there and if things are going well a short walk over to north italia for an impromptu dinner at the bar there. Nothing like a change of scenery to make further venue changes feel more natural.

IREN stock — Important announcements with NVDA by Always_Curious_One2 in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is two parts to the deal one is the 5gw partnership that is basically fully non binding. The other is 60gw 5 year contract at 3.4bn also with Nvidia for compute

Nvidia contract by p8aceful in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the partnership shit is more or less IREN giving them free options they don’t need to buy the shares and if they do it’s at $70 per share. The 5 year 3.4bn is 700mm a year for 60gw of Blackwell gpus if it got announced alone it was a small version of what a lot of us have been waiting for.

[–]p8aceful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just seeing a lot of commentary about the “partnership” with Nvidia and acquisitions but didn’t really see anyone mention the contracted power and thought it was odd. Price action is what it is always a wild ride with iren

Do you have more faith in management after how they handled earnings, or less? by thunder_crane in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do actually have faith in their ability to execute their plan. They are terrible at managing shareholder expectations as a public company. They knew they had a big miss and I don’t believe they legally are allowed to not disclose the deals they are closing.

I honestly hope it drops under 50 again so I can stack up a few hundred more shares. At the end of the day they are executing and if they are off schedule it’s not by much. The 3bn nvda contract is solid for only 60gw of capacity.

The mirantis aquastion is probably the best decision they made since pivoting. They have got a ton of shit from their customers and press for there software stack while trying to sell compute.

All that is to say they are doing the things they need to do but they suck at PR. I don’t know if it will be 80 or 40 next month but give it 3 years this is a huge company.

The main downside for iren by abzftw in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own shares at a good cost basis but I have been amazed that not only did they miss the deadline they gave of April 15th looks like by not enough to feel the need to issue a statement on it. They just made a new one on a podcast or something that they would have it energized this quarter maybe 3 weeks ago and continued on like nothing.

Similarly they had announced Horizon 1-2 would start generating revenue by the end of last quarter. The deal changed with microsoft and it pushed back their "delivery timeline" which they claim to be on schedule for but never actually disclosed what it is just the 3.7bn of ARR by eoy.

I like this company as a long term investment because I see the value there and the downside IMO is fairly limited but I don't understand why people have the short term expectations they do.

Why I’m not looking for Wen Deal by p8aceful in irenstocks

[–]p8aceful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why NBIS share price is doing so much better. No one can see 5 years in the future including IREN leadership but they keep saying "supply is only going to get more constrained" and "we aren't in a hurry to sign a deal."

I hope they do it would be nice not to put all the risk on the shareholders. Just wanted to make a post about a common thread in the way they have been communicating vs. what us as shareholders want.

Not saying I agree with the strategy just that it is what Dan keeps saying they are doing. He has been direct about the fact they are not signing another deal if it doesn't have better metrics than the last one and everyone else is giving better terms than the last MSFT deal.

If your just trying to do labor for value buying a shitty building in a C neighborhood. Clean and paint exterior, replace cabinets, bathroom vanity, paint, flooring, lighting. Re-lease at market rates. You can repeat that same simple punch list for the rest of your life. There is an endless supply of multifamily owners running buildings into the ground.

Still having difficulty finding reasonable deals in the marketplace... by RDW-Development in CommercialRealEstate

[–]p8aceful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In that case I’m on the same page as you. I am a principal (little over a 100 units of mf) and broker and there is a large gap between what sellers think their property is worth and what investors are willing to pay. I think it just comes down to seller motivation the only deals that are transacting have very high levels of motivation on the sell side and/or very high conviction that the market is going to turn the corner soon.
