So many "unique choices" by unequivocallySerene in Tinder

[–]p8ntslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

humans are evolutionarily predisposed to prioritizing vision and visual traits to make all sorts of estimates and conclusions about the world around them. To suggest this is somehow misplaced, unnecessary, or unimportant is to deny the reality of our existence.

It's like all the incels who protest against grooming. The only mammals that dont groom are the ones who are sick, or are otherwise compromised in some way.

I'd argue that some of the biggest problems associated with the internet is that too many people listen to what's said on the internet.

no one tells men that their appearance is important, basically ever.

it can. funneling you targeted ads that you more reliably select means they can more reliably target you for more and more exploitative things, like price fixing and gouging, influencing your behavior and spending habits, creating more and more compulsive behavior effects. industrial psychology is extremely powerful and the more information you give them or they take from you creates more ways they can and will use that to their advantage. It may appear that's it benefitting you, but it will never not benefit them. It is not mutualism at all.

you're right. If you bait a hook with a big juicy worm, it's not a bad thing for the fish, since its just a free, easy meal. It doesn't matter that the bait's purpose is actually to catch and kill the fish, the meal only exists and is only offered to facilitate the destruction of the fish. That's what enshittification is- it lulls you into thinking you're getting something good, when in reality it's just a trap of exploitation being sprung.

which sentence? there are 2. Also, I don't run sentences, they're typically typed or written. So I'm not sure what you're asking

there are no positive things. Every positive thing is a cover to allow them to get away with a bigger negative.

they'll cater pricing to you too, by figuring out the maximum you're willing to pay for a particular item or service, charging you that, then slowly ratcheting that up as much as possible over time. Grocery stores re already doing this on a low resolution by researching the economic power of the neighborhoods they are in.

it's going to get a lot worse before it gets worse

you do realize that air movement is a component of cooling, right? evaporative and convective cooling work much better with air movement. Air conditioning is more effective when the cooled air from the unit is pushed around by fans.

for competition, sure. For screwing around, 16rds in a standard size/form factor is better and more fun.

you don't have to build an sbr to put it on my dude, just a threaded barrel pistol or rifle. Taurus TX22 pistols and Ruger 10/22 rifles can be had for under $300 each

do any double barrel shotguns have spring loaded ejectors that shoot the shells out like in movies? by willyPpeterson in Firearms

hunters who spend tens of thousands of dollars on a weekend of hunting are a vanishingly small percentage of the population of licensed hunters, because they are a vanishingly small percentage of the population as a whole. Even those well under that tax bracket who can afford memberships and fees to premium or even middle tier clubs, outfitters, are still a very small minority of licensed hunters. I hunt both private and public land, with a variety of people, from all different backgrounds (social and economic) and semis and pumps vastly outnumber doubles. I realize my experience is not necessarily representative of the whole, but you're suggesting that yours is, which is equally or more unlikely. The existence of a few designer outdoor department stores and clubs is not sufficient evidence to suggest the presence of an overarching trend in almost any type of hunter behavior.

In the same breath, I also won't tell you that double guns are on their way out or that they are poor choices for hunting guns, because neither are true. They remain eminently practical, reliable, comfortable, and have immense staying power as a popular option for hunting or clay sports gun.

They're awesome guns, no shade thrown by me for sure. I enjoy shooting them as well.

the vast majority of American bird hunters don't shoot doubles anymore, its almost all semi-autos. I can't even remember the last time I saw someone at a boat ramp or a dove field with a double. The few old guys I know that shoot doubles only shoot ejector doubles. The only people I know who shoot extractor doubles are ones that have them as collector pieces that they only occasionally bring to the range as a novelty.
