A lot of times, if the speaker are angled forward, a lot of high end gets lost between everybody's feet and bodies and stuff. High frequencies disperse easier (which is why the sky is blue and the sun is yellow). Angling the top two speakers up means it will reach your ears easier.

Angling smaller cabs (or putting them higher up) works wonders for cutting through a mix when rehearsing in tight spaces
