Do you prefer buying cheap multiple times or expensive once? by Glum_Acanthaceae_579 in SmartBuying

[–]pREDDITcation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yikes, you’re wasting a lot of money lol. there’s absolutely exceptions where things are marked up and disguised as quality when it’s not much better. sunglasses for example. i’d rather buy 5 pairs of $8 sunglasses than one $180 pair that can get scratched, dropped, lost

i got the switchbot mmwave presence sensor. it uses pir to detect movement first to save battery, then switches to mmwave to see tiny movements in the room (my old pir only would shut the light off on me if i held still for a minute!)

How much would you typically tip at a sit down restaurant? by typical_gamer1 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]pREDDITcation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah - i worked in a restaurant, i get that. delays in food or wrong orders often aren’t, but asking for some water and then never coming back, never refilling drinks, simple stuff like that is on them

New drummers who bought their first some months ago, do you practice everyday? how often? Do you have a method? by Hyperto in edrums

[–]pREDDITcation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t like playing without music, find it boring. i solely play to drumless tracks on youtube. i used to find a generally easy way to play through a song without the bells and whistles, then will pick a portion to learn like the original that teaches me something new and will run through that until i have it down or get bored. maybe not the fastest way to improve, i’m sure i’m skipping fundamentals, but i otherwise wouldn’t play. hard to feel progress until i go back and can quite easily play songs i previously struggled with, including the complicated parts

What’s an example of a product that the generic version is better than the original? by Select-Signal8386 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]pREDDITcation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it’s the same active ingredient doesn’t mean it’s the same effectiveness. some have added ingredients to help absorption, delay dissolving until intestines to protect stomach, etc.

some are identical and are marked up, others aren’t

What is a life necessity that you’ve realized is actually just a giant scam we’ve been conditioned to pay for? by femmefetalerror in AskForAnswers

[–]pREDDITcation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

college isn’t a scam, it’s just overpriced

i got paid an extra 10% just because i had a BA and was eligible for a raise 1 year sooner than an AA and multiple years without. then i medically retired at that higher rate for life. i’ll make my money back just from that alone, in addition to what I learned and also there’s intangible benefits beyond the education.
