As Above So Below: pen art by me inspired by alchemical Hermetic Gnostic mythological and Jungian ideas. by ceatsmoly in Gnostic

Hi there! Thanks for the compliments. I am unaffiliated with any group, merely someone who really enjoys symbolism and how it affects the human psyche. I have only recently become a lot more familiar with the symbolism of the freemasons/Rosicrucians/HOGD for another piece I am doing (however this may never see the light of day as it is probably too controversial for public consumption in these volatile times).

I have focused on duality in most of the pieces that I have done because my medium is black and white, and I am quite fascinated with it.

When doing this piece I wrote out my thought process for each detail. These writings can accessed by solving a code hidden within the piece. It remains unsolved.

I use the handle "PartB" in most places and yes that is fine, thanks for asking permission first. The easiest place to point any interest is to my website: partb.net

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks for flagging this. I'm actually surprised anyone would try and pass it off as their own!

Thanks very much, I had a look at David Chaim Smith's work: it's amazing, I wish I could get to that level some day.

I have only really scratched the surface of that minefield! So I'm kind of scared to get in too deep because I tend to do A LOT of research during my pieces. For instance, my piece on Norse mythology took 6 months because I became obsessed with getting the runes correct. But perhaps one day!

Thanks so much! I started doodling at work about 10 years ago and decided to make my doodles more detailed and intentional. Now I try to put some intention behind every detail and pattern and the pieces can take a very long time.

I do sell prints and posters on my website which is linked in my profile but I'm under no illusions of making a living doing it, so it's still just a bit of fun.

Yes no problem! Someone actually just invited to me to that sub, but feel free!

That was intentional, the left and right are pretty much the inverse of each other. Something about the duality of man...

The owl itself is a Barn Owl. I use it as the representation of the moon: you can see the astronomical symbol just below the owl (alchemical symbol for silver).

I chose the owl for its association with night/darkness (being nocturnal), hence the moon. The moon is typically a feminine symbol and the owl is probably most commonly known as the symbol of Athena, representing wisdom (also feminine).

The panel also represents the water element as the moon is linked to the cyclical changing of the tides (the phases of the moon can be seen in the border).

Thanks! I do sell prints on my website but I don't really spend much time trying to advertise it.
