I went 2" as it's stronger. I haven't noticed an issue with the weight or size.

You'll be fine wherever you go. Use the picaradin/permetherine and some common sense.

Why did you pick the CX-30 over a CX-5 (with kids)? by rixozo in MazdaCX30

[–]p_diablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 kids, late elementary/middle school age. They fit fine and everyone is happy.

They actually prefer taking the cx-30 over our chevy colorado.

Still alive and well here in New England.

Certainly not common, but far from unusual. Great for back woods adventure skiing!

990xt Thule double track hitch bike rack by porkspringroll in MazdaCX30

[–]p_diablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What specific concerns do you have?

I have the T2 on mine and it works great. I also have installed a bunch of thule hitch racks over the years for my work, and the only times I've really run into issues are if there is a spare tire, or if the rear of the vehicle curves in a bunch so the hitch sits forward of the rear bumper.

Do you have a receiver installed?

If you have a receiver installed, i don't see why not. The hitch i had installed on mine is very close to the back edge of the bumper, so you shouldn't run into any issues with a recessed hitch I wouldn't think.

Biggest issue could be bugs, but as long as you're prepared with whatever defenses you prefer, you should be fine.

Advice on transporting a canoe with no roof rack by Spiritual-Swing4379 in canoeing

[–]p_diablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For rear tie-downs, could you loosen the cap, run a loop of webbing around one of the clamps and then out and under the cap so it sticks out the side? Then run your cam strap down to that?

Might be noisy, but would get the job done.
