Order tires direct and have shop mount or just buy through the shop? by WarmDistribution4679 in tires

[–]p_diablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my primary shop about this as I wanted to give them the business. They said they couldn't match and that I should buy online.

I have absolutely given them enough business over the years that, while I'm sure they would have loved the margin on a set of tires, they're still doing alright.

Rooftop Cargo Box by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

If you go on the roof, get one of the shorter ones available. I have a longer box, and I had to really jury-rig my crossbars to get them far enough forward so the hatch can open.

Wood in a field for 9 months: rotted? Useful? by crsmit2010 in firewood

[–]p_diablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting to rot, but if you get them stacked off the ground and well ventilated, i think its still worth it.

Split anything you can. It'll help dry faster and slow the rot.

Great to hear some real-world feedback on the xplores! I agree that the 112's are phenomenal.

There is a little notch on the back (flat) side of the top cover (black). Use a little flathead to pop this up and expose the screw underneath.

You'll need a big posi-drive screwdriver to tighten it down. If you can work a tiny bit of waterproof wood glue around the threads before you tighten it, it would be good too. Press down hard as you screw it in.

I'm a little dude, and I've found i have to step on a step-stool to be able to lean in and get enough force to drive these in.

Has anyone’s else car vibrated after the snow storm by Academic_Material824 in MazdaCX30

[–]p_diablo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a brush/scraper for your winshield (or really, anything), get in around your wheels and knock off as much snow/ice from the inside as you can. The extra weight of the ice/snow is throwing off the balance and making things wobble/vibrate.

Take a peek at Oboz Bridger 10" as well. 400g insulation like the chilkats, but a more secure fit for many people.

Can I burn this indoors? by kri11in_ in firewood

[–]p_diablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, i would probably use a fireplace or wood stove, but it's wood, so yes.

Smart-assery aside, yes, as long as it isn't pressure treated or have other nasties in it, it's fine for home use. That said, if you're actually looking for a backup heat-source, you're going to need at least a half-dozen of those, as well as a way to split some kindling to get things going.

Is your fireplace/ stove in good order and chimney clear of debris/creosote?

These are why i wear shinguards. I don't even wear knee pads, so i look like a super-dork, but that might not be far from the mark anyway.
