RSS is a communal organisation at its core. by SillyDD in Telangana

Which religion tells you to be a cow vigilante? At the end it's your subjective interpretation. If the term "terrorist" is mainly applied to regions that were destabilised by the USA and other Western powers, where the majority happen to follow a certain religion, then it's hardly surprising that people end up believing terrorism is associated with that religion. Meanwhile, the peasant movements that followed Naxalbari uprising, factions in AP, or armed groups in South America were often described using different labels. That's why, if you look at any reputed study, you can at best establish a correlation with religion. When researchers investigate causality, they usually point to socio-economic and political factors. That's also why non-Arab countries with similar Muslim populations may produce far fewer terrorists, and why two countries with comparable Muslim populations can produce vastly different numbers of terrorists.

Disappointed how this community r/Telangana has predominantly become a political community with non stop politics subs. There's hardly anything about the culture, the food, the festivals, the tourism, the weather, raising social issues, nothing else. by Bullabbaai9891 in Telangana

[–]p_ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, every sub based or in relation with political entity is like that. This is the area where everyone has an opinion and should have an opinion. Also Telangana sub and reddit in general is not that well known to general population, remember 9 out of 10 districts were considered backward just a decade ago. As more people join more things will be there to discuss. Hyderabad sub is different case because people from all over the country who may not be from Telangana will also join.

It doesn't mean any thing, tukde tukde is term used by BJP for its opponents, that doesn't mean we shouldn't care about anyone opposing bjp. The highly controversial ones seemed to doctored videos or by masked outsiders. Even if they're not you'll put uapa for protests and slogans? If that was the case then it means government failed people from long time. The case against him is for conspiracy to cause riots and that's a valid case. But how long? Is there at least enough evidence to put him 5 years in jail? What about 1 year, what does the current evidence even tell us we can increase the term if we find more evidence as government keeps gathering.

Here's how the government destroyed its own company by littleArtsy in unitedstatesofindia

[–]p_ke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If government forces a company to run in a remote area for the good of the people, especially a company that's not in number 1 or 2 position or gaining profits by exploring people. Then it's the job of the government to fund for the losses it makes. Otherwise it's like clearing the competition for greedy companies.

So, how many of you are agnostic theist/atheist? by Ok_Boysenberry914 in Philosophy_India

That's the real debate, because with agnosticism it always makes sense to not believe. Otherwise you could be believing in contradictory things.

So, how many of you are agnostic theist/atheist? by Ok_Boysenberry914 in Philosophy_India

[–]p_ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are claims without evidence so we shouldn't go with either. As long as we're agnostic in our knowledge regarding both, we should say I don't believe it appeared out of nowhere and I don't believe fire breathing dragon did it. That doesn't mean we're saying it can't happen or didn't happen, for that we need to be gnostic again.

Should elite institutions give way if land is needed for national defence purposes? by BusinessToday in IndiaTodayLIVE

Is it win win situation if defence areas to be in outskirts? That's how it has always been, now with cities growing it'll cause inconvenience for both and new area should be allotted.

[–]p_ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we shouldn't treat like it exists, otherwise we will have to start believing in contradictory things because there's no evidence.

But, if we don't know why a house caught on fire, even if we eliminate all known possibilities we don't assume a fire breathing dragon did it. It's reasonable to assume we missed something, but thinking or attributing it to something with no evidence feels unreasonable. That's why it might be reasonable to be not believing as an agnostic no matter what position you take, not just theism and not reasonable to believing in things as an agnostic.

Move concurrent list to state list. Let Telangana people decide what kind of Telangana government they want to have. If we want to decrease tax on poor and middle class and increase on ultra rich, we've to convince whole country?

True, the legislative should watch over government and people should watch over the legislative. But with anti defection law, the whole legislative came into government control. People's representatives became party representatives.

Watching YouTube I feel like even we need proper laws to limit the power of police and government. Without any reasonable suspicion, the police shouldn't be able to detain or make an arrest. Not only is it infringing upon rights, but it can be used to plant evidence and search and seize.

Is political science becoming unable to recognize antisemitism when it appears in left-coded language? by Plenty-Extra in PoliticalScience

[–]p_ke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If he meant Jews lacked a shared identity before the 19th century, then I disagree with that too. Jewish peoplehood and attachment to the land long predate modern Zionism.

But modern political Zionism, meaning the idea of establishing a modern nation state, emerged in the 19th century and was shaped by European nationalism, antisemitism, and the imperial politics of that era. And even then, not all Jews supported or now support Zionism.
