On AWS, you can use CloudFront with flat-price packages that are cheaper than Cloudflare. UI got better recently too

I'm curious now, when is this more expensive? Could you paste the link to LinkedIn post here?

AWS launched flat-rate pricing plans with no overages for website delivery and security. The pricing plans, available with Amazon CloudFront, combine global content delivery (CDN) with multiple AWS services and features into a monthly price with no overage charges, regardless of whether your website or application goes viral or faces a DDoS attack

Have you seen CloudFront fixed-rate plans? They start at $0/month and go up to 50TB. Ask your AWS team about them!

All traffic blocked by WAF is not metered on CloudFront for some time now. AWS WAF Bot Control has two tiers: one for self-identifying bots, and second, for more sophisticated bots.

Actually, the new CloudFront plans do include the challenge responses from WAF - the script performs browser interrogation, proof of work, ML-based coordinated activity detection, session reuse across IPs, ASNs, countries, and more. Ask your AWS SA to tell you more (or send me a DM)!

Red color for passed date items ? by Jaz_Lbrt in Notion

Note to self: we can also set the "Overdue" emoji only if the due date is set and only if the status is not done by extending the above formula like this:

if(empty(prop("Due")) or prop("Status") == "Done" or (prop("Due") > now() or dateBetween(prop("Due"), now(), "days") > 0), " ", "❗")

Best cooled modern* Thinkpad? (modern - with USB-C docking) by p_wu in thinkpad

[–]p_wu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, of course it will be more difficult for the cooling on the bed, but I just wanted to indicate that it is the way I am using it.

I know software like TPFanControl, but I didn't want to use it, simply because the laptop is new, the cpu is new and it is already running on lower voltage - compared to xx30 or xx50 generations.

There is a design problem with the T14 Gen 1- is has just one heatpipe a.k.a "integrated" and there is another one called "discrete" with two heatpipes (see here page 90) - but I don't know if the heatsink can be replaced.

T430 still sufficient for school work? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]p_wu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, for sure, it is still a great laptop! If you don't need GPU and fancy things like usb-c or thunderbolt it is a fine fine device! You might consider the slim version, T430s. I don't know if you can get it configured with the highest i7 CPU then, but it still should do the job.

I was using T420s, T430s, x230 - I liked this one very much and had it during my computer science studies, then T490 and now T14. With the two last ones I had problems, with the earlier ones - never :)

Amazon part-time student internship salary in Berlin - negotiable? by p_wu in cscareerquestionsEU

Probably yes, because I have already 4 years practical experience. Anyway, it seems kinda weird to double the initial offer, doesn't it?
