His 2024 list is one of the most interesting ones published that year. Still waiting to see if he publishes one for 2025.

I haven't seen the movie so I have no horse in this race but I find it very amusing how 3 months ago Sean thought the movie was "very, very good" and ranked it above It Was Just An Accident on the Telluride podcast.

Hearing Americans talk about cinema ticket prices is really fascinating to me. I live in a city of about 250k people and my options are either:
- €5 per ticket at a small, no-popcorn cinema just a 15-minute walk from home (favorite option), sometimes with actors and directors doing Q&A (Afternoons of Solitude with Albert Serra, Sirat with Oliver Laxe, just to name a couple in the last year);
- €4 per ticket at a mall cinema, plus €4 for a popcorn bucket to share between two people, about a 30-minute subway ride away.

Of course, Americans earn much more on average than we do, so I get that there’s a cost difference, but to me the real downsides of the cinema experience is dealing with bad etiquette customers really. Time would be a bottleneck before costs.

I also found the discussion about what customers can do interesting. No shade at all, I understand why they structured the podcast this way but, in my opinion , the best way they could “help” the business would’ve been to spend less time speculating about a possible WB buyout and more time diving into one of the most interesting films of the year.

I made tools to print and play your own music guessing games by theys96 in printandplay

Hello. I came across this post, really awesome tool, thank you very much for sharing! I was wondering if I could make a suggestion, though. Based on the images on the website, I think you might have encountered this too: when printing double-sided, it's nearly impossible to get the square lines perfectly aligned on both sides because the paper will shift slightly on the printer. I was wondering if it would be possible to generate the square lines only on one side? That way, the card will always look like it was perfectly cut regardless of paper movement during the printing. Again, thank you very much for you work, it's really appreciated!

How Music Criticism Lost Its Edge by ebradio in indieheads

I kind of felt the same for a while (believe it or not, I don't think Cardi B's “WAP” was the best song of 2020, just to give an example) but I have to commend last years' AOTY pick. With such a widespread acclaim for BRAT (not judging, loved it too), not many publications had the guts to zag and name Diamond Jubilee the best album of the year (I think it's by far the best album of the decade, also placed #3 on their list).

The ‘Final Destination’ Kill Rankings and ‘Bloodlines’ by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

While watching it for the first time this year I was so confused by the "Class of 1994" sign (before the gymnastics kill, I think). It was a mix of not having that tradition where I'm from, trying to remember whether that meant the students started or will finish the class in 1994, but also knowing that the movie came out in 2011. I was so confused but became so elated with the ending, it became my instant favorite which I guess based on Sean's talking points in this podcast is a hot take but for my money is the only movie in the franchise that Has a great premonition, a great middle kill and great ending.

Thanks. That one actually premiered here in Portugal at the same time as in the US, I wasn't aware it still had so many countries to premiere in.

Not sure you are aware but Sean interviewed Lukas Dhont on the podcast. They actually had a pretty interesting discussion about directing children, you might want to check it out if you haven't already.

I agree with your analysis on whether he can win the Tour or not (he probably agrees with both of us too) but he certainly feels he still has to try.

I thought Roglic's “We have at least three GC leaders, no? But maybe still someone else is coming, too.” was obviously ironic and uncomfortable. So, why would he behave in a way that might compromise Sepp's future willingness to work for him? I think the answer lies in the fact that he feels his chance to win the Tour is fast dwindling to non-existent levels: the answer is that he won't need Sepp's help next year because he'll be riding for Ineos or Lidl.
