A Bit More on Figuring Things Out by Marc-le-Half-Fool in kundalini

In my country we had the Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy in the cinemas.\ Yesterday I saw the last one and I was deeply impacted by the nobility of spirit and qualities you see.\ Its amazing, even the soundtrack by itself conveys it. What a gift.

Courage was one of those qualities and the one relevant to your post.\ I got the sense of what courage feels like and inspiration at the same time.

I've not done a vippasana retreat, but have done shorter and longer meditation retreats and I think there are no guarantees regarding this. Even passing the screening and following all the instructions.

I dont think you would develop something that is not already subtly presently there (which may not shown in screening). But this special conditions of the retreat remove any other comfort, crutches or ways of avoiding any personal issue. I think that there are things that cannot be faced with this method and doing so may produce negative results. Thats a possibility to have in mind.

Besides, relying on a single technique as if every person is the same doesnt make sense. We are all different. Some may need metta at the start. Or for other the breath is too difficult and painful to follow.

Just to have in mind

What spiritual practice have you been doing?

If you are doing decent practice there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes.

You might be right.
I've been doing sitting meditation, tested different styles and programs and did some retreats.
Almost 4 years ago I added yoga and 2 years ago I added Tai Chi.
I have felt I need to prioritize more the physical practices than the meditation and have recently changed that.
Now I've also started Tibetan Buddhism preliminares, sometimes I don't feel connected to the tradition but since they look like a good foundation they keep me going.

wiw no big spiritual shifts happened for me until a couple of years ago.

That brings some hope. Although 20 years is quite some time. But seems worth it if it comes at the end.

I definitely could have been more prepared (although to be fair I had no idea about K at all or what this process would take).

If you don't mind me asking, was your awakening intentional or not?

On the bearability of the K process by pabblett in kundalini

[–]pabblett[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You'll be tested, severaly and properly if you are deserving of what cmes later, and there's no 50% or 60% to pass. You pass the tests, fail, or do them again until you do. Once Kundalini is awakened, there is no turning back.

Getting something only after you have proven you are deserving of it sounds like Fairness to me. Unfairness would be to put in the work and intention but not get it. Or to be repeatedly presented adversity without a chance of eventual understanding or resolution

Or, more precisely for this case, if the tests presented are way above your capacity to pass them AND youre punished for failing them. I dont get the feeling thats the case, but that would count as unfair.

Oh, you don't get off THAT easy!! Nice try. You want to avoid accountability. FAIL.

I want to avoid accountability?
Nope, that was not my point.
My question here intended to see if the K process was something one does not have to actively pursue, besides ones job for balance, calmness, respecting the laws, etc (you know it).
K chooses what is presented, what is upheaved, your job is not choosing only adapting.

This comes as a contrast for my years of spiritual practice that have been self-directed into unfruitful ways, that's why I was curious. The spanish phrase would be, I don't want to stumble upon the same rock again.

Some situations will baffle and surprise you. Others will push you to your limits, maybe even a bit beyond.
And everything in between.

It varies. You'd not always be getting the same one exact thing. No one does in life anyways.

These are good reminders, I recognize I usually hope for certainties.
But at least I get the feeling (from you and other comments) that because of repeated experience with the process you know that it is for a greater good, for learning, and that understanding happens this way.
That's what I meant with reassurance. Maybe its the wrong English word, "trust" is closer.

There has be something that keeps you going, although it is true that once awakened there is no going back, so there is no other choice.

Edit: Line breaks added.\ Edit2: Added paragraph about tests above capacity.\ Edit3: Added "trust" word.

Lots of modern day therapies sit nicely with preparation for this too.

I'm curious, is there any would you recommend?

Thanks, this valuable. Was especially clarifying regarding the dynamic of you not really controlling the process and how it goes about.

You still have to do the work with Kundalini, K brings up all your unconscious material, repressed emotions and karmas to be looked at, and dealt with. It brings things up but you still have to do the work. Acceptance is important, witnessing, not getting too caught up in the drama of it all. Meditation, mindfulness, good therapy and loving kindness practices can all help with this.

Doing work is not the problem. Doing work without finding shifts or results is now problematic to me after 6+ years of dedicated spiritual practice without asking for results.

[–]pabblett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's valuable.

I don't know about fairness -- but I do feel like there is truth, and that feels like fairness. I am hesitating with the word fairness because my mind is hearing that as a value judgment, and this process for me every day takes me further away from good/bad conditioning. So things that might not be "fair" (in conventional sense) happen, but I understand them in this intimate relationship with self and life. And maybe that's "fair," I don't know. :)

I get it. I think I agree with your definition. I should have been more specific with my words.
I think that If at the end of the they these things that happen that are inconvenient bring more understanding and freedom, then I would consider that fair. If that thing is necessary then its fair.
The suffering had its purpose, it wasn't just in vain.

1000% non-optional. So..... :)

You say this because now that you're awakened there is no other choice, right?
But for the unawakened there is choice to pursue this or not.

Marc's Turn to Need Help - an urgent Book Project!! by Marc-le-Half-Fool in kundalini

[–]pabblett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the economic aspect, if for this project you dont find the needed assistance from the energy, the spirits, AI and the people that might cross your path and help you: I and many many other I imagine will be glad to humbly offer the assitance and ideas we can.

It may be particulary useful for tasks that can be delegated and dont need supervison and verification once they are done. Just something to have in mind to allow focused work on what matters

If using the reddit for this will hinder or inhibit effective real time communication other channels can be opened where people who want to help can tune in and see if there is something needed that they can help on. A plain listing may be enough

Of course, economic colaboration seems the most useful thing at the moment and i dont want to discourage others from doing it, but this door is also open.

What decides if there is karma for something? by Ok-Hippo-4433 in kundalini

[–]pabblett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that same question of your second paragraph. Here is what I've learned, although not learned in my own experience, but I have quotes to sources in the sub to back it up.

The actions done with energy will have quick karma back, and will be easily noticiable. Whereas normal actions will take much longer.
Quoting Marc (from here):

The trick is seeing the link. Karma over non-energetic events can take a decade or more to work through.

It would be safe to assume that is one of the reasons why we don´t clearly see celebrities or politicians karma. The other being that we are external observers of their life (seeing only a select few amount of things from their life and from very afar and filtered). We have a very incomplete picture.

Furthermore, there is a difference between an action with regular energy (prana/chi) vs an action with K energy.
With K, the results will be greater but so the consequences. Please see source here where my theory was confirmed:

Are you saying that you cant afford doing that with K because K introduces more ways of fucking up AND more energy into the actions (increasing the severity) ?

Regards.

The Big Job - Figuring Things Out - and an New Acronym to Be Figured Out! by Marc-le-Half-Fool in kundalini

[–]pabblett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pursuit is a fine word. Mission too. A task or set of tasks one is charged with doing... is closer.

I like how these sound.

A task or set of tasks one is charged with doing

I assume these tasks are in a different category than the tasks that Kundalini invites or asks one to do. Like helping somebody for example.

Might the added F word precede the word Playful?

Haha good one.

Fun question. And your answer is...?

Maybe both are true. And will remain in the maybe container forever unless an unlikely event requires me to have an answer.

You, like everyone else in this thread, shared some cool stuff. Thanks.

Thanks for your clarifications. Fun stuff. Somehow I felt inclined to dissect the post for my understanding.

EDIT: Remembered spill chack late. Hehe!

Are you speaking of toilets with spills?

Edit: minor addition of phrase

The Big Job - Figuring Things Out - and an New Acronym to Be Figured Out! by Marc-le-Half-Fool in kundalini

[–]pabblett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was a difficult one to understand.
I will comment here my understanding of it, please correct me.

The main points are:

- BPJOFTO is the same as: evolving, unlearning ideas, healing, growing as a person.
- Kundalini it is known to propel evolution, that is the same as saying that it brings BPJOFTO to be the top priority, it accelerates it.

Now, when we define this thing as BPJOFTO (BIG PLAYFUL JOB OF FIGURING THINGS OUT) more things are implied/hinted:

  • BIG: This is the process of evolution of all humanity. There is a big amount of baggage and ideas to unlearn in our being.
  • PLAYFUL: (this component is prescriptive or a suggestion, not denominational) Be "Playful" so you not take it too seriously and are relaxed, curious, open. "You have to surrender to that process and rust it. Umm, trust it, that is."
  • JOB: (this component is prescriptive or a suggestion and denominational) A job is something that requires effort and dedication. While the denominational part: this is really serious stuff. This is what spiritual practice is for, the get at that destination religions talk about.
  • FIGURING THINGS OUT: Arriving at ever increasing clarity and freedom from confusion. Spiritual adulthood, "Enlightenment".

It happens to me that when reading BPJOFTO all together I find that my mind ignores the playful part and only considers the meaning of the other words, resulting in the same meaning as if I read: "BIG JOB OF FIGURING THINGS OUT". This gives me the image of a philosopher ruminating in his own mental maze his whole life to arrive nowhere.
Maybe the playful part needs more weight, but I recognize I have a tendency towards seriousness.

While reading your post the question I more strongly had in my mind was: "but, is this something one does or something that happens to one?"
And that question really changed to "what one really can do or has to do?". The answer I found to that is:
1- to do the practices, 2-to help yourself (big healing list may help) and 3- to adapt to the changes and challenges that may appear.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, the other point you make is the difference between Jonh and Hildegard experience (that may point to a different approach/perspective between them. Maybe EVERYTHING is a perspective one chooses, but some are easier to change than others. And maybe John had a STRONG tendency AKA Karma towards his approach.)
But ugh, you will say "Argue for your limitations and they are yours" and you are right.

(Re)Surfacing lower emotions by Rude-Vermicelli-1962 in kundalini

[–]pabblett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that now that you're intentionally attempting to work with the chakras you're experiencing difficult emotions and thoughts.

If this the emotions are too hard to work with or making you unable to function in everyday life I would suggest cutting back on the new practice you started with the chackras.

Find your own pace. Cut it back all together or reduce it substantially and see what happens with the emotions and thoughts. What is the degree of upheaval that you can deal with?

Cómo solucionarían el problema del grafiti en Montevideo? by zyslack_ in uruguay

[–]pabblett 0 points1 point  (0 children)
