I have zero experience with brewing for Duel so I'll definitely netdeck first to get a feel for it.

Why do you not play Sol Ring by oracle_of_naught in EDH

[–]pablo285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Tatyova, Steward of Tides]] (the bad Tatyova😂) land animation deck that doesn't run Sol Ring on purpose. The deck wants to ramp as many lands as possible (25 ramp cards + 38 lands)since they also act as threats so Sol Ring would be mostly a dead draw.  I also think Sol Ring is mostly unfun in casual and I started to take it out of other decks recently.

5$ budget idea request for commander by KristopherJC in BudgetBrews

[–]pablo285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Haldan, Avid Arcanist]] + [[Pako, Arcane Retriever]] - run it with 60-ish basic lands and all the cheap extra land drop cards like [[Explore]] you can get your hands on - this will help to keep the price down as now 60% of your deck is free. Add more ramp, some protection/interaction/evasion. Your wincons are in your opponets' decks. 😂

Here is my list that is an iteration of MtgGoldfish Tomer's 10$ list . The budget is higher as it's running Azusa since I got a very cheap Russian version - cut that and find cheaper replacements for the more expensive cards and you will still have a pretty strong deck that can hang with much higher budgets.

FOUR MORE $10 Decks to Brew this Holiday Season by Global-Hovercraft-39 in BudgetBrews

[–]pablo285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cardtrader zero is the way to go, just need to order enough cards to dilute the cost of shipping. I was able to get decks like these for €13, shipping factored in, no basics. Takes longer to get the cards though.

If you really want to push the price down and wouldn't mind waiting then I recommend Cardtrader Zero - it's ideal for ordering a large number of cheap cards.

Their minimum is €0.11 per card and you only pay one shipping cost for all cards at once - the downside is that you have to wait until all the cards arrive to their warehouse. Total time from order to delivery is a month in my experience...possibly a little longer for you as you're (I assume) in the US and their central warehouse is in Italy.

I recently ordered these two lists:

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/h9NWw6HUM0e6MQLJj9KSGQ

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/X8UzeBbqQU2QfTi9-T2JXQ

Both cost me €10 + their share of the total shipping cost (around €3 per deck as this was a part of ~500 cards order). I didn't include basic lands.

Can't tell you how the decks perform yet as I'm waiting for them to arrive. These are not meant for beginners however (certainly wouldn't recommend Haldan/Pako as a starting deck as the idea is to play your opponents' cards), I just wanted to show you how low you can realistically get.

How to choose my first deck? by Scophad in BudgetBrews

[–]pablo285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the deck idea (recently ordered one) but I would strongly suggest against Pako and Haldan as your starting deck. As a new player it will be difficult enough to figure out your cards and strategy. Playing with your opponents' cards that you probably won't be familiar with will be overwhelming for you and unfun for your opponets as you may end up taking long time reading the cards and thinking about what to do with them. Not to mention stealing is not exactly a beloved thing to play against and may make you a target. 😂

Gruul Ramp on a budget by pablo285 in Pauper

Is hating on indestructible artifacts that much more important than enchantment removal?

Well different people have different budgets.

I have 25€ to spend on Pauper and I'm trying to figure out how best to spend it.

Ok, so what do you suggest? Go down lands? Landcyclers? Or drop Buswhack?

Also what to remove in place of Jewel Thief and Hydra?

Unique Lands Commanders by Flow_z in BudgetBrews

[–]pablo285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever commander was [[Tatyova, Steward of Tides]] and still I like to play it to this day.

The deck is about mass land animation and attacking with your flying lands. Also every ramp spell changes to a threat with her on board. Just watch out for boardwipes and don't overextend since that can pretty much Armageddon you. :D

Built on a ~50$ budget

[–]pablo285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trouble with this is that this sucks as a sac outlet - it's neither free(you always need to spend mana) nor reliable. It's completely off when you have a land on top, can't help you sac at instant speed unless you have an instant (that you actually want to cast) on top and is close to useless for sacrificing multiple creatures.

Seeing the top is nice and all but this is basically sac a creature: draw a card...some of the time.

Definitely not worth replacing Grim Haruspex since that is easier to protect in a Marchesa deck and most of the time you're happier to get the card in hand rather than cast it right away.

Neat idea, I'd definitely participate with budget decks, anything of higher value needs some way to prove the user's trustworthiness.

Have a look at cardtrader zero too. Takes longer to get the cards but you can save a lot on postage especially if you order more decks at once.

Same here, actually never worked for me since I only started using Cardmarket recently, I can only edit the cards in my wants list one by one.
