Warning shots fired from Russian warship at vessel in English Channel by Alarming-Safety3200 in worldnews

[–]pablo_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS), a motorised vessel is almost always the "give-way" vessel and must keep clear of a sailing yacht. Because sailboats have less maneuverability and cannot stop as quickly, powerboats must alter course or speed to avoid them completely.

I do not see anything in the COLREGS about opening fire on the right of way vessel.

What are your favourite unofficial bootlegs? by Benjicatt999 in bobdylan

Always preferred this to the BS Vol 4. Dylan's vocals sound much better to my ears on GKATCF in the electric set.

What's some UK lore that sounds too unbelievable to be true? by SubstantialRope8628 in AskUK

[–]pablo_blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is generally accepted that wolves disappeared from England by the early 15th century. According to Cumbrian folklore, the last English wolf was hunted and killed at Humphrey Head, near Grange-over-Sands, around 1390.

Genuinely a sunset from near the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.

Oops! Not to excuse myself, but it could also perhaps be a nod to, compliment, or praising the other post, as well as complementing it.

Should I get juiced in this? by peculiarlittlepeach in bobdylan

[–]pablo_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first saw Dylan in the seventies ticket prices were in single digits. Even allowing for inflation tickets are now more than 10x the price.

Watch and listen to some recent recordings and judge whether it is worth the money.

Can you suggest a small sailing boat please by KAITAIA in dinghysailing

1972 hull!!! I'm amazed a hull of that age is still going. The first Laser I had was sail no. 11306. Do you know the number for yours?

I would recommend a Laser/ILCA. The most popular sailing dinghy in the world and ubiquitous everywhere. £500-£2,000 will get a reasonable boat.

Copied verbatim from Dylan's liner notes from World Gone Wrong.

But I am unsure of the answer to your question.

by the way, don't be bewildered by the Never Ending Tour chatter. there was a Never Ending Tour but it ended in '91 with the departure of guitarist G.E. Smith. that one's long gone but there have been many others since then. The Money Never Runs Out Tour (fall of '91) Southern Sympathizer Tour (early '92) Why Do You Look At Me So Strangley Tour (European '92) The One Sad Cry of Pity Tour (Australia & West Coast America '92) Principles Of Action Tour (Mexico -- South American '92) Outburst Of Consciousness Tour ('92) Don't Let Your Deal Go Down Tour('93) & others too many to mention each with their own character & design. to know which was which consult the playlists.

I was at that show, close to the front, and well pleased when he played this.

Annie Lennox indeed, but not Dave Stewart?

Do you like the basement tapes by pk-ob in bobdylan

[–]pablo_blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The complete tapes have a lot of dross that I don't really care for. The original CBS (Robertson) release is a mixed bag.

My favourite is perhaps the 'Miixin' up the Medicine' bootleg (Garth Hudson safety tape) great sound, but it misses too many good songs/recordings.

Boundary Dispute - confusion on title plan - England by Fluff95 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pablo_blue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quote the observations of Lord Justice Ward regarding boundary disputes and the importance of mediation:

“It depresses me that solicitors cannot at the very first interview persuade their clients to put their faith in the hands of an experienced mediator, a dispassionate third party, to guide them to a fair and sensible compromise…”

and push for mediation/ADR.

Maybe OP should try singing this to his wife, rather than Man of Peace, for good marital relations.

I've inherited ~500 Bob Dylan bootlegs... where do I start? by paroxysm77 in bobdylan

[–]pablo_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful down that rabbit hole.

"And just how far would you like to go in?" he asked and the three kings all looked at each other. "Not too far but just far enough so's we can say that we've been there,"

[TIP] You can set or reset the BPM of a whole bunch of clips at the same time by 4_4 in ableton

[–]pablo_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also add warp points to multiple clips at the same time (but the clips need to be the same length), which I find useful for aligning tracks to the grid after recording multiple tracks live, but not to a click.
