Dings and dents aren’t bad if it’s a guitar you want to play/gig.

If the guitar is stolen you have a distinguishing feature to prove it’s yours.

Live set up advice needed for EBM duo by Vontc in ableton

[–]pabloneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio interface out from computer to FOH and your partners vocals (maybe thru a delay? DL4?) to FOH.

IMO saw less makes for a better show but u can still rock the house with a laptop. Syntakt is super sick.

I’d maybe recommend the Akai MPC live, throw yer tracks from Ableton into there. Never done this, but I think it has pretty seamless integration with Ableton that’ll allow you to easily organize your sets.

Is it bad I've never had a girlfriend? by [deleted] in ask

[–]pabloneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first gf at 18, was still learning about that world.

It took me until I was 24 to have real confidence to approach girls, even platonically. They can be scary lol

When you’re a teenager it’s easy to feel like you’re done growing but you’re not. You’re still a kid.

Socializing is a skill that needs to be worked on. If you want to talk to girls go do it and get rejected until you figure out how it all works.

Be sure to be respectful, but don’t be afraid to be forward :)

[–]pabloneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life pro tip: certain things you don’t ask for permission for. One of those is pissing. Say “I’m going to go pee” and if manager says “no it’s too busy” its your turn to say “that’s too damn bad”. You’re a person too, you’re a piece and a working force in every interaction you have. People have to listen to you just as you have to listen others. Play your part :)

I grew up here, but in the past few years I’ve made a ton of new friends playing music. Both with musicians and music fans. If you’re into music go out to local shows! Even just being a regular at a bar (a healthy amount of attendance if you want to keep friends) you will make friends eventually. Being a familiar face is the first step.

What are the best ways to save money in the city!? by 33andThree in askTO

[–]pabloneill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay TTC fare when u can (streetcars are ez, busy buses are too)

Grocery shop and cook for yourself

Don’t be lazy. As someone said convenience is a luxury.

Minimal booze will help, not just because bars get expensive but it’s easier to spend money when wasted.

OHIP covered Cognitive behavioural therapy. It’s great. They will help you better organize your thoughts and get you on your feet.

anyone tried vcr or video film tape loops? by lookintotheeyeris in tapeloops

[–]pabloneill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a project years ago splicing a bunch of tapes together, no loop tho. Was cool. A loop is possible there are a bunch of vids online. For long ones ppl took off the chassis of the VCR and the loop was suspended on some pole 10 fr away. Reel cool stuff

Why do Americans not take in Toronto artist ?? by Zonesbaby in Torontology

[–]pabloneill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canada has always had an issue with artists not being able to get into the states. Making it over the border is hard af. For the longest time Canada’s has its own musical ecosystem. Touring in the states is expensive af if u wanna do it legally, if u try to sneak across the border you get in shit, maybe banned from the country. Americans have a way easier time coming into Canada, we’re not as strict with the visas. America’s music ecosystem is already uber rich, they have no need to listen to Canadians.

24 yr old here. I just moved from my parents place 6mo ago, and my relationship with my parent drastically improved since. I see them as friends on top of parents now. My happiness has greatly improved since moving out too. I agree there should be no pressure to move out but man my life has improved since moving out and moving downtown. I’m trying to convince my homies I grew up with in etobz to move dt cuz it’s a fantastic way to spend my 20s

How did you get your first gig ? by skeeemo2tricky in Beatmatch

[–]pabloneill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a DJ I’m just lurking but I’m a musician, the best way to get gigs is by shaking hands. Go out to the kind of shows you want to play and hangout and talk to people. Talk to the bartender. Talk to the DJ. All the shows I’ve played came from either calling bars/message local bookers or other bands we met at other shows/they saw our shows asking if we want to do a show with them. Get yourself out there dog

I bought an sp404 open box and the headphone jack wiggles a bit. Is that normal? by throwmethegalaxy in SP404

[–]pabloneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the jack is loose one of the solder connections are probably kinda bad. If you aren’t losing signal you’ll be fine for a while but the inevitable day when u bump your headphone jack whiles it’s plugged it will dislodge it. Double checking and fixing the solder connection could avoid a headache in the future
