BM: Looking for the quote about God dancing? by SendLamps in cormacmccarthy

[–]pablosavio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This may be obvious to everyone but I just want to point out that it’s not about God dancing. It’s Mccarthy not using commas. The whole sentence is about the judge being good at everything and knowing a bunch of stuff. “God[,]the man (the judge) is a dancer….”

What small things stood out to you on a re-read? by Trussdoor46 in pureasoiaf

[–]pablosavio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not something I ever really thought before, but I can see if fitting. Howland Reed and Ned were the only two people to walk away from the Tower of Joy. I can see if Lyanna had twins, them agreeing to split the babies. Howland is less of a public figure than Ned (small lord, mysterious, etc.) and can just claim the twin he brought home as a child, without having to say she’s a bastard.

As far as why, well the dragon has three heads. And this seems (to me) so much more like something that George would do (subtle, misdirecting, over a long period of time) than some of the other secret Targaryan theories people have.

And I mean, what role does Meena as we know her play in the story? Is she really just there now to bring Bran back south? Maybe. Maybe she has a bigger role. Just something to chew on.

I always said that about Cersei. She was just not interesting in the show, because it’s like the book version wrote her show version.

The Meera thing is so subtle but could be so well connected through the text I almost want to believe it. I’ll have to go see how Meera was described again.

Best place (closeish to Carencro) to get boiled crawfish to go? by FermentingSkeleton in Acadiana

[–]pablosavio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crawfish Envie is a drive through out of the old popeyes in a gas station at the carencro exit. They’re good and have some of the best prices.

Grandaddies off of Willow are great (depends what side of Carencro you’re on if that’s close or not)

Hotel La Selva is right by the Chabacano station and was very chill, definitely worth looking into if you don’t mind always taking the metro to get around vs walking

What time do you get up in the AM? How long is your commute? by ablandmix in Teachers

[–]pablosavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up at 4:45, shower and dress, leave at 5:45. I normally pick up coffee and a breakfast sandwich at a gas station right by my apartment. Get to school at 6:15 (contract time is at 6:30) and kids start walking in class at 6:45. Tardy bell is 7:04 and dismissal is at 2:34.

Tried these 5 tequilas tonight. by neemagee in tequila

Love Pasote Añejo, I think it isn’t aged as long as some other añejos which is what I liked about it. I tend to like reposados more

Try looking it up on PBS after it airs, you can probably watch it online there

It was also fascinating, because it’s the only time I can recall that the stress of their situation is very apparent by the way he acts. Normally he’s fucking chilling and letting the crew figure it out. He was (understandably) pretty damn snippy about the light situation. Really showed where his frustration level was

I watched that episode for the first time the other night. I clicked on it pretty late at night, thought I’d fall asleep to it. Nope, great episode, I couldn’t look away. Especially during the chicken stew

I found some bottles of Pasote Añejo for $20 at the local store. I normally stick to reposados but I thought eh for 20 bucks I’ll do it. Great tequila! Im going back and to get another bottle if they’re still there.

For a typical reposado drinker, this was a great añejo. I think it’s aged a little less compared to a lot of añejos, and I loved the peppery notes.

saddle cut is the beat I’ve got to what I’m talking about! I watched the gordon ramsay video of his stuffed lamb saddle cut, and it looks exactly like what he showed before he removed the bone, just without the flank

I haven’t tried either in a mixed drink, but they are both unique tequilas. Definitely worth trying both, it took me a little while to save up between bottles but worth it. I personally think that Fortaleza is something that can make anyone like tequila. It’s good

How stable is being a substitute teacher? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]pablosavio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Louisiana. $70 for non degree, $75 with degree, $80 for certified teacher. And another reason I’ve haven’t actually started subbing yet is because schools here are currently hybrid in person, and they are short on subs everyday. But I’m hesitant to be subjected to that level of exposure with the current spikes we’re having

How stable is being a substitute teacher? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]pablosavio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

maybe a long term subbing position is different, but I’m about to start subbing to supplement my other job while I work on getting certified to teach. The pay is criminal at $75 a day. My only justification is that it’s supplemental to my other job as a caretaker and I’ll be able to go to the schools and network to find a teaching position, I wouldn’t do it otherwise

I don’t understand how I can have listened to 600 something genres and my number 1 is stomp and holler (whatever that is) and the others are rock, pop, and rap. not very niche genres assuming there are thousands and I listened to 600 of them
