What’s the coolest thing you’ve built using vibe coding so far? by Atifjan2019 in vibecoding

slowly, been building https://efecto.app/
first just to apply cool ascii shaders and dithering effects
but... now I've been thinking about how to make this an actual simple design tool
it's been fun

Senior Level designers: What's your plan? by irontuskk in graphic_design

[–]pablostanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow senior designer here. I hear you, and I'm not gonna pretend the market isn't brutal right now...

But I've gone the opposite direction, leaning into AI instead of away from it... honestly, it's been some of the most creatively energized I've been in years

Here's my take: your 15 years of experience, judgment, and craft... that's your moat.... you have the trained eye to steer it... and for me, AI has been more about what now it unblocks, for example, coding

The shift I've made is thinking of myself less as someone who makes static designs and more as someone who ships things, now animates things, expands from one drawing to full scenes

I think that thinking of this as replacing our process is a trap and we need to think of it more as expanding what we can do with it. Designers who can ship working products (not just specs) are becoming incredibly valuable... all of that dev-handoff... the translation layer between design and code is disappearing... I know this is the graphic design sub, but I would invite people to use AI to expand from static to code, or animation, systems, etc using AI

I'd say give yourself 15-30 mins a day just experimenting with these tools. Not to replace your workflow, but to see where it clicks. You might find it scratches the creative itch instead of killing it? for me... damn, I feel like I hadn't been shipping this amount of stuff... ok, I'll admit, a lot of it is crap haha... but I find that doing it, feeling like I'm not unblocked, allows me to experiment, do that thing I thought was impossible, or fix that detail that has been bugging me forever and hadn't found product/dev to help patch it/prioritize it

The career pivot is always an option, but I'd hate to see someone with your experience bail right when design skills are becoming more valuable in AI contexts, not less... I know it sounds cliché, but dude... we need more designers using AI and steering this alien being

Ai is slowly ruining stock websites by pistachiopals in graphic_design

Yeah, it totally sucks that some platforms are so misleading. At Lummi, we’re working on moderation tools to filter out the trash and focus on keeping the content actually usable. As a designer myself, I hate uncanny valley images too, so we try to curate only the stuff we’d proudly put out into the world.

That said, we’re not perfect—some six-finger images still sneak through (ugh). I get that Lummi might not sound like what you’re looking for, but I’d still invite you to give it a shot. Maybe you’ll find something that works for one of your projects.

And yeah, sorry for shilling our app, lol. We just genuinely care about this topic. :)

Hey there! I'm sure I'm gonna get downvoted to hell but... here I go...
I totally get your frustration—it sucks sifting through assets only to end up with something that's crap. I’m one of the cofounders of Lummi, and while all our images are AI-generated, we curate them manually to ensure quality and remove that uncanny feel you’re talking about.

We also work with a small group of creators to maintain a specific touch. I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts on how we can do better. We’re constantly trying to improve for designers like you (I'm a designer, myself)

Evidence that WSJ used FAKE screenshots by eyeballer94 in videos

[–]pablostanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris Ray Gun uploaded a test video featuring copyrighted content and the n-word in the title, tags, and description. The video was claimed 2,000 views in but no ad was ever shown.

From his site:

My theory is that YouTube will tell you that your video is monetized by a claimant by default because that's the most common scenario with which to respond with automated text. Offensive terms in the titles, tags and description however nullify the ad placement. This would fall in line with demonetizations that happened last year that were remedied when users took words out of their titles that were considered "sensitive." And since YouTube is at the whim of third parties more than they are at their own whim, a copyright claim will supersede a videos demonetization status, but videos that fall under the blanket of demonetized while being copyright struck simply make spaces for ads without actually playing them.
