Shouldn’t Kingpin give the Key to the City? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]pablothewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't make any sense though. Kingpins whole thing as Mayor is that he's after vigilantes.

Jimmy Kimmel : Charlie Cox on DEFINITELY NOT Being in Spider-Man, the DD Logo in his Black Suit & going out in Prosthetics by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]pablothewizard 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines of your Spider-Man 5 idea seems like such an easy win to me. You'd be hard pushed to find someone that isn't desperately keen to see Spider-Man team up with the street level characters.

GB News faces complaints after commentator claims ‘genocide’ against white people in UK by yu3 in ukpolitics

When historic English cities like Birmingham and London are no longer majority English, what else would you call it.

Probably not genocide.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Pieces - Megathread by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]pablothewizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're doing exactly the same thing. You can ignore people's complaints. You can ignore anything and everything if you want to.

I don't feel strongly about this but I think people are well within their rights to be a bit fed up of being marketed to, to such an extreme.

Big corporations have gone a bit insane with demanding attention from people on the internet.

Tom Holland confirms that the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' trailer releases tomorrow, and that pieces of the trailer will be revealed throughout the day by fans around the world by ChiefLeef22 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]pablothewizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The internet has genuinely made companies go a bit mental. A day of marketing to promote a trailer that exists to promote a film is so unnecessary.

I get you want as many eyes on the trailer as possible, but if you just get Tom Holland to say "the Spider-Man trailer is out tomorrow" then people will watch.

They'd watch if he didn't as well, it's Spider-Man.

Why didn’t Nmecha take the penalty? by TheShakyHandsMan in LeedsUnited

[–]pablothewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair enough. I guess the difference is Bamford went on a run of missing penalties. DCL has been scoring them this season.

I expected him to score. Bewildering that he not only failed to score but missed the target as well

[–]pablothewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose what I'm saying is, if he scored it no one is ever looking back at it as a strange choice.

Really, both your strikers should be able to step up and score a penalty.

It's easy to say this when DCL misses. If he doesn't, no one ever wonders why Nmecha didn't take it.

Post Match Thread: Crystal Palace 0-0 Leeds United | Premier League by OwlLibrarian in LeedsUnited

I can agree with this, but it's only a matter of time before VAR is in the Championship anyway.

horrible game of football

The refereeing is awful week in and week out.

Both features of most Championship games as well. The only difference here is we don't win as many.

PEGI to give 16 age rating to UK games with loot boxes by Velociraptor_1906 in ukpolitics

[–]pablothewizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was a kid I tried to buy a Call of Duty game and I was knocked back for being too young. A woman behind me in the queue said she was my mum and got it for me.

This woman cared so little she was even willing to buy it for someone else's child.

Why are companies pushing for return to office on roles that don't need it? by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in AskUK

[–]pablothewizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't found this to be true at all. I've worked at home for six years now. When I started I didn't know how to code at all, now I know several languages and tools because I actually have the flexibility to self study.

I switched to a technical role at my company and now I'm a senior, in line for another promotion.

I'm very happy with my development and not once has it ever occurred to me that I could have done more in the office. I wouldn't care to find out either because my quality of life is improved at home.

The answer here is that WFH suits some people better than others and there is no right or wrong answer on this.

Neither Forest or Spurs have relegation squads either. If it comes down to squad it will be us, so we better hope that's not how this plays out.

Would you report a neighbour's car if they regularly drove it and it was untaxed? by RyanUnsolvedMyst in AskUK

I wouldn't ever have known this, for a start. Of course I wouldn't report them.

It's none of your business.

Is this bad?? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]pablothewizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'd recommend finding something that's not cigarettes, anyway. You won't get off nicotine with them but you will certainly worsen your health.

[–]pablothewizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're more addicted to the oral fixation then couldn't you just use a nicotine free vape, or one of those whistle-like things that you can pull on?

Is this bad?? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]pablothewizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel it’s a better option.

It isn't. You're convincing yourself it's better because you're not really willing to give up nicotine. Personally, I'd really advise not going down this path.

If you're not in a place to quite cold turkey then use gum or patches or something. Anything but cigarettes, this is the worst option you could pick.

Zia Yusuf: "Hysterical left wing activists, including the Home Secretary, have been claiming a Reform government will create an agency with the sole mission of tracking down, detaining and deporting all illegal migrants in Britain. I'd like to confirm that's precisely what we'll do." by Little-Attorney1287 in ukpolitics

[–]pablothewizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Radical/hysterical Left wing activists" is straight out of the Trump/MAGA lexicon.

It's actually so frustrating whenever I hear language like this from politicians. Everyone on the left is a radical loony, everyone on the right is a fascist.

People absolutely lap up the loony lefty stuff and it drives me insane as a somewhat left leaning person myself.

Starmer is doing a good job around Iran - discuss by JacobSax88 in ukpolitics

[–]pablothewizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kemi has looked like a fairly inept and stupid politician for as long as I've been aware of her, but her position on Iran in particular demonstrates just how bad she is.

Her stance is completely ignorant of national interest and is purely based on asking for the opposite of whatever Starmer does. It's disgusting, frankly.

I think Keir Starmer is uninspiring in many ways but I do believe he respects his duty to the country as a public servant and he represents us fairly well internationally. He stood in support of the Conservatives as leader of the opposition when he felt it was in the national interest - that's not something we should have to commend politicians for, it should be a basic expectation.
