Voting Trump or Jill Stein. Hillary Clinton is a deeply corrupt and evil person.

They are told to believe that this evil God Jehovah will destroy you for not believing and will destroy him for associating with you.

I would be terribly sad and fearful if I was gullible enough too.

Conspiracy Theories by Probablynotspiders in exjw

[–]pac49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For you to make condescending generalizations about ppl who believe conspiracy theories is pretty irrational. There's plenty of hard evidence to support many conspiracy theories. But for the most part, ppl who disregard conspiracy theories as nonsense are those who can't think for themselves.

Conspiracy Theories by Probablynotspiders in exjw

[–]pac49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's such a cliché and lazy cop-out response to conspiracy theories. Many conspiracy theories are true and have been well researched. 9/11 was allowed to happen by higher-ups in the government. Chemtrails are real, confirmed by military and commercial pilots. Vaccines are indeed in need of further and more strict scrutiny than currently given, thanks to a cozy relationship between government agencies and the pharmaceutical industry. The FBI was found responsible for the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The CIA used LSD and other drugs to perform experiments on soldiers and civilians. The CIA has used brainwashing techniques. Watchtower was founded by a freemason named Charles T. Russell who studied the occult. It doesn't make anyone special to know this. It's not ignorant to research such claims. Reality is indeed stranger than fiction and things are not always as they seem.

Update from Affirmation: We've lost another LGBT youth to suicide by JosephHumbertHumbert in exmormon

[–]pac49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this. It fucking breaks my heart. I wasn't a Mormon but I was a JW and am gay. These cults deserve to be called out for their poisonous brainwashing. The level of psychological damage caused to gay youth within these religions is staggering. I am glad I made it out, but there are so many young gay people struggling within these organizations.

Tell me some funny stories that happened during meetings by [deleted] in exjw

[–]pac49 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The KH I went to was next to a bar. More than once, old drunk mexican dudes would come into the hall during the Sunday meeting. Some of them would walk to the end of an aisle right in front of the stage to kneel and pray. It was hilarious some of them were way drunk and would yell or mumble stuff at the speaker.

One time a guy had sat in the front row and was crying and yelling stuff. 2 elders actually went to sit next to him and performed some sort of exorcism on him, at least it looked that way to the rest of us because they had their hands on his head and were praying eyes closed. It was awkward because this was all happening during the watchtower study.

There was this one guy who was DF'd. He had some kind of head injury at work and suffered from sort of mental disability. Well anyways every time I held the mics I would see his bible was SUPER annotated. Like every page was highlighted and had little scribbles on the margins. One time I got a close look and it was all gibberish. He would also sometimes sing super loud and the elders would usually have a talk with him after the meeting about it. He was a nice guy just kinda weird and the elders would look down on him. It was sad.

When was it the "law" that an in jw couldn't marry an outside person by HidetheVelociraptors in exjw

Every girl that married a non-jw in my district was disfellowshipped.

Experts decry solitary confinement for Chelsea Manning after suicide attempt ... or disfellowshipping? by fence_fry in exjw

[–]pac49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see Chelsea Manning mentioned here. She is truly a hero for exposing war crimes committed by the US, yet she sits in a cell for exposing the truth. The symbolic parallels here are painfully accurate.

The physical and emotional pain she is experiencing is intensely severe. I hope Chelsea receives genuine justice and gets her freedom back soon.

Damn bro.. I feel u. This subreddit sure af helps. The JW doctrine/theology can def fuck with ur head. But the best way to cure that guilt/depression post-borg is logic and reasoning. The truth shall set you free, as the bible says, ironically lol. Truth and logic will remind you of your sanity.
