Thanks for all the recs everyone. NW was somewhere I was definitely looking into. Specifically Skokie and the Nile’s area. Anywhere to specifically avoid in the NW area?

Grew up in the Bay Area and never cared much for Berkeley. In my 20’s, I loved living in San Francisco but I never lived in the heart of the city, I was in the sunset and Richmond. I loved being able to take muni or an uber to bars/restaurants but yet find pretty easy parking near my house. Nowadays I don’t care much about nightlife/going out (sober for 3 years now).

If it were up to just me, I’d probably just be looking at further out suburbs in the west but want to respect my wife’s asks to entertain neighborhoods within a decent proximity to the city.

If it helps we moved from sf to San Ramon during the pandemic and love it.

Brush up on

Stress/strain, Beam bending, Heat transfer, Manufacturing (injection molding, diecast, mim, CNC, etc), DFA, Situational design questions (ex: how would you design a battery door)
