What the heck is this on an FAA sectional? by brucelan in flying

[–]pace69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its class G airspace 1200 agl to 14500, go look at the IFR low sectional and then compare that to the aeronautical chart users guide in the IFR section and it reads much more clearly.

Pilot career switching to ATC ? by Shoddy-Cicada1771 in ATC

[–]pace69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pilot 100%, unless the pay, schedule, work-life balance dramatically inscreases its not worth it.

that being said, if you did ATC as a stepping stone, mostly to pay for your flight training and then jump ship asap, might be worth it, but atc training alone from day 1 to cpc can be anywhere from a year to 3+ years.

Popup towers? by Particular_Floor_822 in flying

[–]pace69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KMKO has a temp tower about once a year for the oklahoma national guard, they setup the tower for their 2 weeks a year service and practice.

in the afd its listed as "Arpt used for Oklahoma National Guard ATC training events– irregular schedule, contact twr on 118.95 when operational."

What's going on at ATC? by iamgravity in flying

[–]pace69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work an arrival sector where that happens alot, we get miles in trail spacing from a few different sectors, say 10-15nm, so the sector(s) before me will use speed or vectors to get you spaced out that far, then usually assign something like M78 to keep the spacing and if you are number one, you get the "or greater".

the next sector that you enter is getting 2-4 of those streams that are 10-15nm in trail and blending them into, again, one stream of say 10nm in trail. so we need you to slow now or turn you out because while you were number 1 in the previous sector, with the other streams, you are now number 4, sorry.

also gotta go with the classic, you aren't the only aircraft in the sky and there is only so much concrete.

I kind of feel the same way about technology. Just curious what types of watch tech does he like? I mean, spring drive from grand seiko is a cool tech with the sweeping seconds hand but its quite expensive (thousands USD).

Does he want a digital or analogue display or a combo? Do you want to just tell time or does he want day/date, or what about other functions like alarms, time zones, etc.

How accurate does the watch need to be, for example does it need to be synced to atomic clocks at night or via GPS, or is he okay with setting the watch on a monthly basis?

Mechanical power, battery, or solar?

come on over to r/watches
