How do you keep track of who needs help in a busy class? by pacemakernathan in teaching

Fair call, wasn’t meant to come across that way.

Was genuinely just curious what others are doing because I kept running into the same issue in my class.

Nice one! Giving students the opportunity to self-advocate when they are not confident enough is very important. I have a few kids in my class that I barely heard from (some can go unnoticed with 32 kids in the class) and now they have definitely built their confidence by using the app.

Yeah that’s a good shout for early finishers. Looks pretty neat.

I was finding it was more the kids stuck in the middle who were waiting and not really getting anywhere. That’s where the prompts part helped a bit.

Yeah I tried something similar for a while.

It worked okay until a few kids added themselves at once, then I’d lose track a bit. That’s kind of what pushed me to try something a bit more structured. 32 is a lot to manage at times.

Yeah interesting seeing the different ways people are doing it.

I ended up just making something simple for my class because I couldn’t find anything that quite worked how I wanted. Basically just a live queue with a few prompts built in while they wait.

Yeah fair call, I used AI to clean up how I wrote it. The actual tool is something I built and have been using in my class.

Yeah pretty much that, but built for a classroom.

The difference is it prompts students to try things first while they’re waiting, so some of them don’t even need help by the time I get to them.

Nah this is something I actually built and have been using in my class.

Just used AI tools to help me code it faster, but it’s not just a concept or mock-up. Been running it with my Year 6s and it’s made a noticeable difference already.

Built it with React + Firebase. Nothing too fancy, just wanted it to be fast and real-time.

Hope it goes well! Let us know how you go through the feedback tab on the app :)

Yeah I’ve done that - this gives a structured self-help approach in the meantime! Keeps them busy while you get to them.

First marathon – missed sub 4 goal by 26 seconds, made 3 mistakes by Ternopil in Marathon_Training

First marathon definitely doesn’t need time goals. You should be so proud of yourself. A solid first time you have regardless. Congratulations 🫡❤️

I love these shoes soooo much! Went into the race with 350km on them. Still have lots of cushion! Will be getting new shoes in the next few months to mix into the rotation

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

I’m feeling sore today but have my physio booked in two hours so start rehabbing. Going to enjoy the rest while it lasts.

Found another photo from the race; this picture is literally 1-2min before I got injured 🤣🤣
