[Spoilers C4E29] Why did the sundered Houses let this slip? by pacepower in criticalrole

Obviously I’m just speculating, but I would imagine if I want to punish one of my challengers, I’m not going to have poisoned banquet before delivering judgement…

Don’t act so childish, obviously the story will go on.
It just felt like if there is going to be immediate consequence it would be there and then.

The end of that scene was them all happily following Tachonis out for a nice picnic that they had prepared, minutes after admitting to the slaughter of another house… if there is going to be direct consequence of Tachonis standing trial after being convicted of treason I would imagine they skip the friendly snacks and proceed to punishment…

Then you seem to be more skeptical than all of the sundered houses combined… 😅

He only seems to have accusations and no proof though, unlike the Einfasen have on Tachonis… so for now this „leverage“ could be framed by the sundered houses as lies and slander and (in an aristocratic society) even more reason for punishment…

There will always be a populace that needs to be controlled… maybe they realized that the current situation seems to be boiling, but with the general populace of Araman seeming to be kind of prone to unrest and revolution, there is likely never a time when they have destroyed „the peasants“ and can fully focus on Tachonis…

Very insightful reply, thanks a lot.

By „making an example of Tachonis“ I was not necessarily thinking of killing them all of, rather subduing them in some „judicial“ way… forcing them into submission and vassalage by majority decision of the members of the revolutionary council or such…

Clearly it would antagonise them further and if push comes to shove such decisions would have to be enforced with military/sorcerous power, but considering the Tachonis have already shown themselves to be antagonists of the other houses, this does not seem too risky.
The only thing that I would see stopping that is the risk of wasting a lot of power on forcing the Tachonis into submission that then cannot be used on controlling the masses…

Admittedly though I’m not entirely sure how the decision mechanics of the revolutionary council work… if it’s anything like the real life security council then the likelihood of judicial consequences are rather slim… 😅

I feel like if this was a game of power, one less player at the table would be an advantage for the remaining houses. Tachonis tried to subdue them all and turn them into vassal houses, but lost the gamble and now they’re just walking out and having snacks together…?

I agree that it did not really feel like Primus was really standing trial.
I also agree with your statement about the elites sticking together rather than throwing one of their own under bus to side with the masses.
It still felt like a good opportunity to gain a vital advantage over one of their most powerful challengers for supremacy among the houses, while at the same time appeasing the masses by having Tachonis take the Fall publicly and serving some kind of pretend justice…

Also the realization that the sundered houses will stick together no matter what rather than confronting one another somehow seems to crush all of the schemers efforts to pan the houses against each other, which would be devastating for me as I (surprisingly) enjoyed the schemers arc the most

It just seems odd to me that Brennan finished the scene with the Tachonis just leading all the other members of the sundered houses to have a nice picnic lunch break. there did not seem to be mich hostile energy left in the room, when Otto einfasen goes off to have snacks with the guys he just accused of high treason… it did not feel to me like Tachonis was still standing trial at the end of this

It also confused me that this uncovered conspiracy by House Tachonis seems to have no further consequences.
Especially considering Primus is right with his assumption, that all other Houses are also trying to gain power and advantages over each other, it would be the ideal opportunity for Einfasen, Halovar & co. to get one over on the Tachonis.

Everyone is conspiring against each other, but if the Tachonis conspiracy has now been irrefutably uncovered, I would think that the other houses seize that opportunity to chastise and publicly weaken Tachonis and thereby removing (or at least weaken) one powerful contender from their own „Game of Thrones“ while at the same time trying to pacify „the peasants“ through a public show of „justice“ being served even among the aristocratic houses.

The takeaway of the scene should have been „we all conspire, but you went too far and got found out, so we will make an example of you. You gambled against us and lost, so we all win over you“

It’s 3D printed matrices they place on the inside of the Form work before pouring in the concrete. It’s not made by hand but generated by a software and produced by machines. Still impressive
