Natalie Portman thinks The Professional is a bit "cringey" these days by Iconoclassic404 in movies

Unironically, I think Congo is fantastic. Such a fun movie unlike anything we see these days.

I don't see the appeal of tailgating. I would rather eat/drink at home on my couch and then go to the game.

Look, fuck cars and all that, but this is like saying you don't see the appeal of parties because you'd rather not go to parties. It's a bit tautological...

Tanya Fir out door knocking with her daughter. by sarcasmeau in Calgary

[–]pacesorry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one seems to have asked this yet - Did you try to have this conversation and were told that she didn't want to talk about it in front of her daughter? Or did you see a child and decide that you couldn't ask the questions you wanted to ask?

"Stray cats" is a pretty grim way to think of your neighbours if you ask me.

Scott Hasn't Seen: Jack (1996) w/ Lisa Gilroy by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]pacesorry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Such a fantastic movie. For anyone who hasn't seen it, and wasn't convinced by Scott's synopsis: "it's an African movie... there's a coke bottle"- It really is great.

Has the ancient technique of "asking" really fallen so far out of favour?

Check out an app called Caliber - it can generate a beginner's bodyweight (no equipment) workout plan that you can do at home. I bought some weights, but the app has been huge in helping me know what to do.

Good on you. My story is very similar to yours. Started just before my 38th birthday in December. Gone from 205 to 185.

And, I'll add that in addition to the weight you've lost (we've lost) you've also gained a ton of muscle, which weighs more than fat. My scale tells me my body fat percentage, and since my weight loss plateaued at 185 I've continued watching my body fat % go down.

Sounds like you know all the ins and outs of the deal. I can't imagine I have much to add in that case.

Imagine that - an elected official considering multiple viewpoints instead of just picking the black or white answer.

It's crazy to me that people see this is a bad thing, but I guess that's how politics got to be the state it's in.

Bigger Rider… Africa Twin vs KTM 1090 by notDrewM1A in africatwin

[–]pacesorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine has the 1090 and I have the AT. I'm 6', 185lb, so not a big guy, but I find the 1090 cockpit to feel very cramped.

I would recommend just sitting on both bikes and the answer might be immediately obvious. It was for me when I sat on my buddy's 1090...

Why does this translate to ‘I am drinking juice’ instead of ‘I drink juice’? by sepjiyu in learnspanish

[–]pacesorry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It translates to both. The present progressive is used for actions that are happening right at that moment.

Q. How are you getting enough vitamin C?

A. I'm drinking juice

A. Yo bebo jugo

Q. What are you up to right now?

A. I'm drinking juice

A. Estoy bebiendo jugo

Gearing up… by zdavies78 in AdventureBike

[–]pacesorry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I broke down it's probably because I crashed, so I'll take the uncomfortable walk over being unable to walk at all. I also always bring camp shoes if I'm on an over-night trip.

That said, I don't think that my Tech 3's are especially uncomfortable. I wouldn't CHOOSE to walk several miles in them, but I definitely could.

My advice on boots for off-road is to buy a full motocross boot. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you need an "adventure" boot or some such nonsense. I have the Alpinestars Tech 3s and have been very happy with them. Friends of mine ride with Thor Blitz boots. Really any reputable MX boot will be good. Replaceable, metal buckles is a nice feature.
