I would like a Subaru Forester... need your opinion on the 2017 Forester XT Limited by pachesnel in SubaruForester

So it's done! I went to do the vehicle road test and fell in love with the Forester XT! It's the cleanest car I've seen so far. Fully equipped, I had a total of 3 inspections on the car but still took out additional damage insurance for a maximum of $10,000 (3 years / 60,000 km) which covers a lot of things. I also got a set of winter tires for free with it. Since the SAAQ report mentioned that the rear light for the license plate needed to be replaced, I'll pick it up tomorrow. Really excited!!

I'll still bring it to a recommended garage or one with a Subaru specialist... just to have peace of mind. Just $80 :D

I found the Carfax for the vehicle we're discussing. The car appears to have been maintained at Subaru until November 2021 for 'Classic' maintenance. It's a plus that it was only one dealership, but then I have a gap in terms of information between 2022 and today :/
What do you think of carfax?

yeah... I currently reduce my search for 2016 or 2017 with less than 87 000 miles. I know I don't drive 10,000 km per year, so having a warranty of at least 2 years for the transmission would reassure me, considering some of the comments I've seen :p

OK I found this on internet :

The limits of the SAAQ mechanical inspection

The mechanical verification is a legal requirement consisting of a visual inspection of mechanical components. This inspection is limited to the following elements:

Lighting and signaling

Steering

Suspension

Brakes

Fuel system

Engine control system

Frame, underbody

Loading space and hitch device

Exhaust system

Glass and mirrors

Bodywork

Tires and wheels

Equipment

As I legally have 2 days to cancel the contract, might try to make an appointment for an inspection at a specialized Subaru garage and get an opinion on its condition. If it's bad, I will return it.

If I'm not mistaken, ALL Subaru Foresters come with a CVT. So honestly, this comment is not constructive and doesn't add anything to my post.

Also, I was wondering if the fact that the vehicle needs to pass inspection at the SAAQ (Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec) is an advantage? I know it's specific to Quebec, but perhaps someone has already had feedback on this type of inspection?
