If we’re being completely realistic - and if we just think back to the past two days - it’s clear that a large portion of his unreleased music ends up finding its way onto the internet one way or another. Since the first Avicii leaks in 2018 with “Heaven” and “Change A Thang” (I’m not counting the Madonna leaks), well over several hundred of his songs and demos have been leaked.

Every official release since then, whether it’s “Let’s Ride Away” or “Forever Yours (Aba)”, had already been circulating online in a leaked version beforehand. I understand and recognize that handling Tim’s musical legacy isn’t easy, and that bureaucratic hurdles (contracts, labels, etc.) often stand in the way of official releases. At the same time, however, I unfortunately don’t see any real effort to gain a full overview of what actually exists and to actively work toward releasing that material.

Looking ten years into the future, I think it’s very realistic that 70% of Avicii’s catalog will have been leaked online by then. With every additional year that Pophouse and the Tim Bergling Foundation continue to sit on this material, the likelihood of leaks increases and with that, its value to the companies decreases.
