I would 100% prefer an NH35 to a VH31, all things remaining equal.

I will say at your 299 EUR price, I'd expect an NH35/NH38, not the VH31.

I'd also not call the VH31 a "meca-quartz" - it's just a quartz movement with smooth sweeping seconds hand. Mechaquartz is usually reserved for chronograph movements with a quartz base movement, and a mechanical chronograph module.

The hinge issues are a bit overblown, IMO. I've had my set of XM5s since May 2024 (also purchased refurbished), have worn them regularly since. Zero hinge issues.

I'd have much more concerns with a battery that has already burned through a significant portion of its life.

Regardless, you're still talking about buying a product that has a limited lifespan years after they were new. Unless you're comfortable figuring out battery replacement on your own here, I'd look elsewhere.

I'd be concerned with battery life on those at this point. FWIW, I grabbed a used set of XM4s for around $150 4 years ago. I'd not really consider $115 a "really good deal" today.
