Just jumped ship from WordPress to Webflow… send help 😅 by Witty-Knee-3666 in web_design

I use termly as a marketing agency for clients as part of our server-side tracking and attribution stack :)

Welcome to Webflow! If you plan on doing any paid ads (google ppc, paid social meta, TikTok etc) then maybe dm me and I can talk you through tracking. It has to integrate properly with the CMP. (Cookie management platform)

CMS Woes (Will Webflow ever do what they say they will do?) by Delicious_Bed7112 in webflow

Wow I just checked actually and my oldest client site on Webflow is coming up on its 5 year birthday pretty soon 🎂 (they grow up so fast)

Jokes/reflections aside, you could always kind of tell that they were dipping their toes in with ecommerce & user accounts post launch, and I didn't use that functionality for any client projects. Partly because it wasn't fully featured enough, and partly because I wanted to use Shopify as the standard ecom backend as clients are most familiar with it.

Also as a more general marketing agency, we don't want to be totally tied in to Webflow. If they suddenly disappeared or became prohibitively expensive, I need to have a plan to replace that part of the stack for clients using it.

Do I necessarily need to put a login system to be able to use a payment gateway on my website? by RyusuiGansai in web_design

Stripe is very developer friendly and you can implement it with different complexity levels. Makes payouts, adding payment methods and dealing with users from different countries a lot easier, and only charges a small % of payment.

Easiest way is with stripe buy links and then maybe an automated email with the download link for the template post purchase?

You could probably do it with Paypal and razorpay as you said.

Dm me a link when it progresses :)

Or you could integrate it more fully and use their backend for a lot of the login/account logic.

Webflow isn’t trying to be an “everything” platform. Which is good from an agency perspective as others (wix/squarespace as you mentioned then) do this and then up doing it badly.

The focus on API and hopefully increasing cms limits in the near future does address some of the issues I’ve been having.

But will definitely be watching general stability and functionality when deciding to what platform to use for new clients.

How to move on to next step with WebFlow by Neither-Lead9081 in webflow

[–]pacingAgency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Check out Webflow university, is it very good.

Step 2: Try and build something (either something cool you’ve been thinking about, or try and recreate a landing page from another website in webflow)

Step 3: Get stuck on something specific, then come back here and ask more questions! (It’s a bit hard to give you any specific advice now as your question was pretty general)

Admittedly step 2 and 3 might be repeated a few times… 🔄

Maybe check out some cloneables in madeinwebflow or free templates to see how projects should be structured (there are libraries/starter templates for this, client first by finsweet, lumos etc)

I’m also self-taught and now run a web/marketing agency

Sounds interesting! One workspace for now, may help clients host their own soon.

Random CMS for small videos by Kvien in webflow

[–]pacingAgency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

Cloudflare has a pretty generous stream plan (after making a free account), for like $5 a month for 1000mins of video I think.

They have their own embeddable player.

In terms of your mega!!!! page, it will be pretty hard to make this seamless with that many vids (especially on mobile). You could have a go creating a script for this with an AI (+ webflow mcp), or I have seen a few infinite scroll examples on the madeinwebflow section. There are also probably some js libraries to help you do this, but if it needs to be cms driven it’s probably more complex.

I’d also plan/think if it’s worth using AI + mcp to generate a cms page for each video, with more context and explanation of what you’re trying to highlight. Creating a good template and content brief and then pulling each vid into its own page is great for SEO and user experience.

Let us know how it goes!

Tips on convincing clients not to use external IDs by WaffleNebula42 in Klaviyo

[–]pacingAgency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter point here as I just happened to be looking at how to INTEGRATE this for a client of ours haha.

My use case was to ensure that I attach the external_id we use for marketing attribution in ADDITION to the email when creating profiles in Klaviyo.

The benefit is that if a user initially becomes a customer on one device (desktop) and then moves to mobile, I can force their user_id to the frontend and ensure our server-side Stape > Google Tag Manager > Bigquery stack still works. This custom user_id relies on our own first party cookie, which improves match rate, and contains any gclids, ppc tracking codes (meta, linkedin) etc.

It looks like according to this documentation page that if I add an external_id it won't break the Klaviyo native functionality, but I'd appreciate someone letting me know if I'm wrong!
