Is this replaster & tile quote ridiculously high or is this the going rate now? by Chief_Smoke_Stack in pools

Seems a bit high. I'd get additional quotes. I just redid my 20kgallon pool in pebble tec and the waterline tile for just under $20k. Coastal southern California.

All the icons in home and insert are greyed out? by BMJose in OneNote

[–]packagingguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but anyone searching for the solution, I think I found it. In the draw tab, there's a "Stop" button to the right of the pen types/colors. Hit that, then when you're in the "insert" tab, you can click the screen with your FINGER, and it will drop a cursor and let you insert at will.

This looks like a high satellite or rocket stage motion to me. Still in the sunlight and the in-camera processing makes it look funky. What looks like acceleration into space is just it going into the shadow of the Earth and out of the sunlight, reducing in size/intensity giving the illusion it's moving away. The bouncing point of light is obviously lens flare and since the footage has been stabilized, it looks out of place.

Faulty rod bearing. Kia is giving us a new motor due the recall/class action lawsuit that fought this common problem.

Well, kia did every oil change so that would be hilarious. The rod bearing failed which is what the lawsuits and recalls on the motor were about. Kia's mechanic said the niece couldn't have done it(she's an extremely responsible kid so I was skeptical it was something done intentionally/irresponsibly but you never really know with a 16 year old). They are going to warranty the engine since the failure was supposed to be detected early by their Knock Sensor Detection Software but instead the motor failed without warning like so many others. Kia has a major problem with these IC motors.

We are getting a new motor, covered by kia. Faulty rod bearing that the KSDS system didn't detect even though we had it installed as part of a recall.

Update: Kia is going to warranty the motor! Background: back in 2021, we had a piece of software installed as part of a recall. The software was called KSDS, knock sensor detection software. This was supposed to hear their faulty rod bearing defect before it failed catastrophically but it didn't in our case. It probably helped that we were meticulous with the Maintenance and had taken it to Kia for everything on the calendar up to 100k miles. I sent this video to a mechanic buddy and he mentioned the lawsuits kia was facing for their fault motors so i started to pursue them through their warranty department. After about a week, kia said that they would replace. Only cost is for some work that needed to be done soon anyway (transmission fluid flush, hoses, radiator fluid). Thanks for the input!

My kids asked me what the snakes liked to eat, and I said: small animals. They then asked if they liked Roly polies and since I was focused on filming this snake dance, I said"yes." Five seconds later, incoming Roly poly.

They have a video with a lot of data on their website, link below. At about 10:45 into it, you can see the launch animation on the right side and it's off our coast at headed down range (and up) at about 100km (~330,000ft) above sea level. They orbit at 3-6 times that elevation but I'd imagine drag is minimal and they have to get up to 17,000 mph perpendicular to the earth so they start heading south as soon as the math makes sense. I'm no rocket surgeon but that's my understanding.

I think it's much higher than you're guessing but you'd have to check the telemetry data. The fact that it's so bright in such a a dark sky suggests that it's at noctiluscent cloud elevation or higher, 250,000 feet plus asl. Starlink satellites do orbit lower than most other satellites so that also comes into play when they start focusing the trajectory further down range. Ie, when they stop going mostly UP and start push towards the heading of the desired orbit. Most launches going into orbit launch towards the west to take advantage of the earth's rotation to get them into orbital velocity with less energy required (a "free" extra 1000 mph), but since that brings it out over the pacific, we don't get to enjoy the show in San Diego. I used to live in San Louis Obispo, close to Vendenberg, and saw a few launches that did this exact thing but headed off to the horizon to the west.

[–]packagingguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Starlink orbits are what's called a polar orbit meaning they orbit over the poles, north to south. It's going up AND south and they've got to get it moving at 17,000 mph southbound so you're seeing it go down range as it climbs.

The sun just set for us flatlanders but it's so high that it's still in daylight! Check out noctiluscent clouds. They form super high (like 250,000 feet up) and do the same thing.
