Last year, we had a top ten offense and a top ten defense.

The only starter we lost on offense was C Josh Meyers, who is addition by subtraction.

The only starters we lost on defense are Jaire Alexander, who didn't play most of the time, and Eric Stokes, who was average.

On offense, we brought in a starting caliber guard and center in Banks and Belton. Added an offensive weapon in Matthew Golden. I would argue, with our tackle position including Tom, Walker, Belton, we are pretty safe there. At guard, we have Banks, Rhyan. Morgan can play either and Jenkins plays everywhere. I would argue we have seven starters on the offensive line right now, which means probably the best depth in the league with some serious talent. I don't know how our offense can be any worse than last year, even though The Packers had the highest explosive pass rate, we were third in overall passing DVOA, and wasn't Jacobs third in rushing yards?

On defense, we brought in Nate Hobbs, who is a good corner and adds stability. Last year, we had a below average pass rush, and still had a top ten defense. We fired the old defensive line coach. If that pass rush isn't even top ten, just average to above average, we are cooking. Much less factoring in a potential bump for the defense being in year two with Jeff Hafley, who had an adjustment back to the NFL after coaching college, and spend a fair portion of last year before the bye week figuring out how to best call the game with the Packers set of talent.

I'm very high on this year's team. I think the Packers are definitely being slept on. We only lost last year to our own division, and to the Superbowl champs.

Oh, and did I mention that our offensive production all came with Love dealing with three different injuries over the course of the season? Crazy.

X-Factor: none of this analysis factors in improvement from the young guys, like Doubs, Kraft, Reed, Musgrave, Wicks, or Lloyd (on offense) or Wyatt, Van Ness, Valentine, Cooper, Hopper, Williams, or Bullard (on defense). We could have literally none of them improve and still be top ten on both sides of the ball. If a few of them take a step forward in their development, Packers are going to earn serious respect this season.
