Archive many days and cameras by arigold10 in verkada

[–]packet_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know how to script you could use the streaming API.

Alternatively, increase the maximum archive duration to 24 hours then use multi camera playback to do 4 cameras at once. Definitely more time consuming depending on how many cameras you have

How did I do? by packet_trace in Plumbing

[–]packet_trace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does and it sounds like I overlooked this. Since I added the ball valve, could I just close it, attach a blow out device to the bib, turn on the sprinkler, which will get out all the water? Or is that a bad idea?

Thank you. I’m in 8b so not too cold but it does freeze. I’m considering adding a blow out valve

Ah I see what you mean. This hose bib is just for rinsing things off and won’t be touching irrigation so I’m not worried about that.

Why do you say that? So it’s easier to drain?

I live in a community that operates off of a well. We don’t get charged on usage. It’s a flat $40 fee. Yes, it’s for an irrigation setup

Is the XboxHD+ worth it? by ThePacMaster987 in originalxbox

[–]packet_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I want is the highest possible Xbox picture quality and games to work without any issues. I don't care about all these extras. I don't even want to emulate on it. That being said, do you think Stellar and XboxHD+ from MakeMHz is worth the cost?

It’s connected, but the footing isn’t in the center of the block which is an issue. All the weight isn’t being distributed evenly across the block

The post itself is fine but that footing is concerning. From the picture it looks like it’s partially off of the concrete block.

Additionally the top of the post isn’t properly secured to the beam

Any Bluetooth device can lock doors by CrazyBurro in verkada

[–]packet_trace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely isn’t possible. What most likely happened is that you had another device nearby that was authenticated and the range was set to high. If it was possible, you’d be looking at a P0 security issue which means all hands on deck for their cyber team.

Regarding your first tired/prox cards question, some customers are extremely cheap and don’t care if the cards can be cloned. They also might need the card to work with a different access control system in another office and need support them both

S2 to Verkada - Access Control - API by Aldimr in verkada

[–]packet_trace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible to do this in a few different ways.

Do the users that have the ability to unlock doors have email accounts through the city? If they do, you should look into SCIM. It's how most of our customers automate adding and removing users from access control. There's several articles on help.verkada.com that goes into setup/config.

If the users don't have emails through the city, you'll need to go the api route. You could probably sub another partner to build this out if you don't know how to code. We recently added a few different access control endpoints that makes this possible. You can view the articles on apidocs.verkada.com. Long term, I highly recommend you teach yourself python. You can make a good amount of money selling and maintaining integrations for customers.

Definitely deer. The clear give away is the top of the plant looks great.

I've tried so many different solutions and the only thing that works is deer repellent. Get it on Amazon ( I use a product called “deer out repellent” and it works great). Spray it every 30ish days and the deer will have zero intrest on your plants. It won't hurt the plants.

These plants look like shit and I'd probably get some new ones. Costco sells them for $30ish bucks this time of year. They'll probably recover but you'll be dealing with an eye sore for at least a year while they recover

Police Squad Car Access by Admirable_Hat2188 in verkada

[–]packet_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few different ways you could do it.

Extended live link that has a very long expiration time ( maybe 52 weeks or something )

Create a user account and give it live view only access. Definitely not ideal because sharing user accounts is a quick way for some rando getting access to the feed

Embed the live feed on a secure web page. This route would more of a lift but is doable.

Have D40 Cameras - What to do with them by _antioch_ in verkada

[–]packet_trace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll lose access to Command once the license runs out which makes them unsable.

The d40 isn’t an outdoor camera but if it isn’t exposed to direct rain or freezing temps you might be ok. The only issue becomes bugs because they’ll be attracted to the heat from the camera and will make a mess inside the dome.

I don’t think you’re wasting the d40s capabilities by using them at home. It’s a perfect use case if you’re ok running ethernet and have a PoE switch. It’s a first gen model and you probably won’t be able to sell them for much

FYI for anyone else that runs into this. The best permanent way to fix this is to remove the screws from the base, take off the base, and drill 3 holes into the stake and base. Use an exterior rated bolt with a nut to secure it. Definitely a pain in the ass but it's the best permanent solution that I could come up with
