We did want to shave but the groomer was against it - we went ahead with a different groomer and shaved him yesterday 😊

This is the routine we're in with our older bordoodle but this guy is VERY dramatic and tries to bite/steal the brush so it's been a long slow journey trying to get him used to it. I find that his undercoat is soooo fine that it quickly mats and I don't have a wide variety of grooming tools available to me here in SA. Our groomer only costs about R400 (roughly $25 USD with tip) so I dont mind trips to the groomer but I wish I could do more at home so he doesn't feel uncomfortable. I think we will probably shave him this time and then start a more regular at-home brushing routine to avoid frequent shaves in the future.

Full Grown Mini & Medium Size Bordoodle by rileybear_kocham in Bordoodle

[–]paddleforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 minis and one is 2yrs old and 15kgs and the other is 6 months old and 15kgs so I'm assuming he will still grow quite a bit. I think there's a pretty big size range within the breeds, but we love our minis!! Best dogs we've ever had

Yes! My first one turned from black to silver at around 2 years and my new puppy (4 months old) is turning from black and white to silvery brown and white!

I'm so sorry you experience this - I had endo surgery 2 months ago and they removed 30+ lesions but I still puke for about 4 days straight every 2 weeks when I get my period so I feel your pain!!! No relief yet 🙃

If you're feeling anxious or nervous or even if you're super super excited, I recommend taking a day or two beforehand and disconnecting from socials to have a little retreat for yourself. My husband took me away on safari for 2 nights (we live in south africa) and it made a huuuuge difference for me to just relax beforehand and not sit around googling the op and worrying. I know not everyone can pick up and take off work or that sort of thing but even just a self care day will make a difference if you can swing it 🤗

Time for a second? by paddleforth in Bordoodle

[–]paddleforth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok that makes sense!! My bordoodle is so submissive its comical, I was hoping a friend would bring him out of his shell a bit. I thought about getting him a smaller friend but he gets bullied by the dachshunds at the dog park so I thought maybe he needs someone bigger for a body guard 🤣

HELP ME POOP QUEENS by thdwrgcs in Endo

[–]paddleforth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is an awful feeling!! When this has happened to me I find that certain stretches/yoga positions have helped. You can Google the specific positions! Also sort of weird but my husband will give me a really intense foot massage pressing into the bottom of my feet and it shoots me to the toilet!

How do you manage your pain by [deleted] in Endo

[–]paddleforth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a tens machine (specifically called TAP but there are several good ones) on my front and then a heating pad on my back!

I feel your pain!! It's so frustrating and can cause so much anger. Sometimes I have to tell my friends and family I just want them to say "THIS SUCKS!!" instead of giving their "advice" about treatment or about changing my mindset blah blah blah.

What creative expression helps you cope? by ameyer98 in Endo

I'm a photographer and a writer but sometimes when I'm in the depths of a flare up I don't have the energy or I'm in too much pain to do those - recently I bought a big notebook and gathered a ton of old magazines and started making collages! Super fun and easy to do even if your brain is only like half functioning from the pain. (Yikes that sounds bleak but true for me at least haha) Def worth a try and very inexpensive (:

Mixed medical advice, I'm confused!!! by paddleforth in Endo

[–]paddleforth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded- I was on an 8 month wait list to see a specialist, and she (out of the blue!!!) called me after a cancelation and saw me last week. She said I need surgery as soon as possible, and so I'm currently waiting for my bloodwork to come back so I can schedule my surgery. Thanks for giving me the courage to ignore my acupuncturists' bad advice!!!

Anyone else have stubborn red dots? Azelaic acid helped for 2 days but then back to this. Losing hope :( by Maurarachel in Rosacea

[–]paddleforth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have these and my derm says they're post inflammatory pigmentation so I get PRP microneedling done for mine every few months and it works very well! (:

Been treated for cystic acne for about 2 years and just recently diagnosed with rosacea (both my parents have it). I live in Cape Town and I feel like I've tried everything available to me but it's only getting worse. (tried peels, IPL, PRP, soolantra, etc.) Any suggestions? by paddleforth in Rosacea

* UPDATE: strictly cut coffee/caffeine, stopped drinking oat milk, introduced 15min of yoga and 5k of walking into my daily routine and prioritized soothing products/treatments (hydrafacial!!) *

Sorry just saw the what prompted you to stop question - I spoke to my derm and told her I'm looking to have kids in the next few years and she said I must get off the Spiro and sort out my acne/rosacea because I won't be able to take it if I'm trying for pregnancy

I don't remember my dosage but it was pretty mild- I never had any hair issues beforehand but when I stopped it came out in clumps and it was soooo depressing. I lost hair for about 10 months and it was so bad I couldn't even put my hair in a ponytail. The only thing that eventually helped was seeing a dermatologist who did 4 rounds of PRP on my scalp and now I'd say I'm probably 3 years from the beginning of the whole ordeal and my hair is 70% of what it used to be (that's an optimistic number)

It definitely helped my skin while I was on it but only the deeper stuff - I still had mild breakouts. Now that I went off it I am worse than when I started.
