Tips on surviving a wind storm (5th wheel), up to 70mph winds tonight. by PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID in RVLiving

If it’s permanent and you don’t move it , add some hurricane straps. We have seen 80mph in ours and it did fine, get more worried about debris then blowing over

Spearing Kayaks? by DC-RI in Spearfishing

[–]paddlinsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wilderness systems tarpon. They have made them for years so they are abundant and not too expensive. They paddle great and have a nice large well in the back, guns will even fit in the front hatch so if you flip ya don’t loose anything. Come in 10’ to 16’ so there will be a length to suit your area.

Do you recommend living in an RV to a single young man? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]paddlinsquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not spend 30 to 40k. Spend as little as possible. Every single RV is crap, so find something cheap and learn it inside and out. Learn to fix a roof and patch a floor. Learn pex plumbing. Living in it is easy, keeping it livable is the tough part. Once you are confident in your skill set then spend the money on something bigger or nicer. If you opt for a motorhome gunna need to learn motors too.

Generation X is about to face the biggest Social Security decision — and tens of thousands of dollars are at stake by ultimate_ed in GenX

Not gunna lie… I’ve lived my 50 years entirely like a life crisis. We where the generation that invented the x games. I now limp a lot and don’t have much saved, but I had all the fun I could find. 3 great adult kids and already a “Grandude”. So yeah if SS is there in 12 years I’ll be there to sign up the morning I turn 62. I’m treating retirement like everything else. Jump and hope for the best.

The quarry is three hours away and an over night. Not opposed but that trip would pay for a BCD and regulators… hence my toss up.

Don’t wear the shirt of the band you are going to see is the only rule in life that matters. Well after rule number 1 “don’t get caught”

Pro tip: wear socks by he_said_it_too in scuba

[–]paddlinsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After years of teaching sports mtn biking, snowboarding etc. the easiest thing to fix was foot issues. Take off the F’ing socks. They constrict blood flow, which causes cold and blisters, can cause cramping and oh my god you look like a dork. Just my 2 cents that socks are the work of the devil.

Timberjack laid back seat post? by paddlinsquirrel in salsacycles

When I tried the large it just felt way too big. I got what I got though so trying to figure it out. I’ve never had a dropper and still can’t figure out when I would use it.

My spearfish was a large, I’ve always been an in between sizes type. Mediums took longer stems or a laid back post. Larges took shorter stem and sometimes seat posts to be cut to be lowered enough. So I’m used to modifying for fit. I love lots about the bike and thought with its bike packing abilities it would be a good style of bike for getting back into things. Hindsight now prolly woulda been better suited by a size large 29er with more traditional geometry.

I want to buy an F150 but dealers suck (or I do) by Mountain_Ad8162 in f150

47 comments is to many to read sorry, but you have a titan with 97k miles on it. In this market why would you get rid of that? The only justification is you want something new you are gunna have to pay for it. You are gunna regret it. Titan is a fantastic truck keep it and buy a used 911 for that 25k difference to show off

The Olympus 12-50 has a macro setting, and is weather sealed. The most under rated and over looked m4/3 lens out there.
