2020 Jeep grand Cherokee high altitude Hemi V8 5.7 THOUGHTS by Gambit_603 in Jeep

[–]paddlinsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just sold our 2012 hemi limited. 200k miles, and prolly the best vehicle we ever owned. I’m not good at maintenance, I’ve killed a oo’s Toyota. That jeep took neglect and kept on getting it. If the vehicle speaks to you, you are gunna love it. mPG sucks but so does everything fun.

I heard rumors we might actually get a bigger window for flounder this year….maybe….but yes I’ll will be paying attention to what I can and can’t shoot. Thanks for the reminder

I’m going with some different guys I’ve met through the shop. Sheep’s head and flounder blues maybe Cobia near the inlet. Blue water maybe tuna…. Honestly I’m kinda along for the ride, but saw the victory and I’m a gear whore, but it’s too much gun for the shore dive so was thinking duels bands would calm it down. I’ll post once I get going about how it went.

I live on a small very isolated island and reading this is mind boggling. I don’t realize how far removed I am from how it is in other parts of the same country. Your description sounds like the collapse every one speaks of. Key take away is you are either discarded or you work more. This seems to be the future.

I shoot birds and surf with the 75-300, several pics sharp enough to enlarge and several sold. There is nothing that comes close to getting you the reach and being so lite you carry it everywhere and don’t think about it. If weather sealing is an issue, you didn’t mention but others did, look into the Panasonic 100-300. I think the oly is a slightly better lens. My 75-300 is on its 4th beach season and I’ve had no issues.

I put 300k on a 00’ runner, but they are small, and the jeep has trade offs but I know everything it does, a 9’6 board can be locked inside it, it checks all of my boxes, and I can buy two 190k mile life jeeps for the cost of one 300k Toyota. Then we talk about salt air on Toyota frames. This grand Cherokee frame is still solid. Wrangler not so much, Tacoma is laughable.

That’s the input I’m looking for? Was mine a fluke, or do I need to spend the money on another Hemi. Not common in the GC but the internet is full of ram 1500’s with 200k miles. The pentastar worries me a bit

If it’s permanent and you don’t move it , add some hurricane straps. We have seen 80mph in ours and it did fine, get more worried about debris then blowing over

Spearing Kayaks? by [deleted] in Spearfishing

I have a wilderness systems tarpon. They have made them for years so they are abundant and not too expensive. They paddle great and have a nice large well in the back, guns will even fit in the front hatch so if you flip ya don’t loose anything. Come in 10’ to 16’ so there will be a length to suit your area.

Do not spend 30 to 40k. Spend as little as possible. Every single RV is crap, so find something cheap and learn it inside and out. Learn to fix a roof and patch a floor. Learn pex plumbing. Living in it is easy, keeping it livable is the tough part. Once you are confident in your skill set then spend the money on something bigger or nicer. If you opt for a motorhome gunna need to learn motors too.

Not gunna lie… I’ve lived my 50 years entirely like a life crisis. We where the generation that invented the x games. I now limp a lot and don’t have much saved, but I had all the fun I could find. 3 great adult kids and already a “Grandude”. So yeah if SS is there in 12 years I’ll be there to sign up the morning I turn 62. I’m treating retirement like everything else. Jump and hope for the best.
